I have been working in the field of mental health for 15 years, and have been in private practice for the past 10 years. In social service agencies I worked in both clinical and administrative roles with diverse populations of people: homeless and at-risk youth (SafeSpace, NYC); domestic violence victims (Safe Horizons, NYC); chroncially mentally ill adults (Jersey City Medical Center, NJ); people living with HIV/AIDS (private medical practice, NYC); recently bereaved widows and widowers (SPOP/Widowed Persons Service, NYC). Since opening my practice, I have also worked as a consultant providing clinical supervision to professionals and paraprofessionals in non-profit programs (Lower East Side Harm Reduction Center, NYC; Cornell University Hepatitis C Study, NYC). As much as I've loved the work I've done in non-profits, my true love has been providing individual, couples, and group psychotherapy in my private practice.
In addition to countless hours of post-graduate training, I hold a Certificate in Psychoanalysis from Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center (NYC), a Master of Social Work from New York University (NYC), and a Bachelor of Arts from New York University (NYC).
"My job as
a psychotherapist is to help you get more of what you want in your life
by helping you learn new things about yourself. Although my style is to
focus on what's happening in the here-and-now, I believe unresolved
issues
from the past tend to create obstacles that hold people back in the
present. We can work together to deepen your self-knowledge, foster
greater self-acceptance, and generate positive change. People commonly
come to me for help with: relationships, career and ambition, personal
and professional growth, interpersonal and communication skills,
loss and bereavement, depression, and anxiety.
Two primary areas of interest and specialization include: improving
relationships and professional growth. I find it personally meaningful
to help my clients to develop stronger, better relationships with the
people in their lives (family, spouses and partners, colleagues and
co-workers) and overcome fears of career and financial success."
I work exclusively with adults. I spend most of my days working with
individuals and couples, and I run a weekly, on-going therapy group.
Please call me if you'd like to schedule an appointment so we can meet
in person and decide if we might work together."
