Merry Meet,
My name is Phillip but I prefer to be called Phil.
I have been an auric healer since 1987 and a magickal practitioner since 1992.
In June 2007 I was trained and attuned to Reiki 1. In September 2007 I was trained and attuned to Reiki 2. In April 2008 I took my Advanced Reiki Training and Reiki Master Teacher training and attunements.
I am an independent Reiki Master Teacher in the Usui and Tibetan traditions.
One day I hope to become a certified Reiki Master Teacher instructor with the International Center for Reiki Training.
I am sure that some people will look at my profile picture and giggle. Yes, I am a grown man and I have teddy bears. Actually, in addition to loving bears I also use them in my Reiki practice to do remote healing. I also think the bear is just too cute for words.
Thank you for being patient with me. The second half of this year has been stressful. I lost my mother on August 15th, she was only 66. Just over two months later, I lost my grandmother who was just a few months shy of her 89th birthday.
Caring for a loved one is a very rewarding and taxing experience.
I have returned to my home full time now and I am in the process of opening a brick and mortar version of my web store, Mystical Treasures Emporium.
The books I have listed are some of my favorites related to Reiki and Auric Healing. Please note, these are two different subjects.
I have found that William Lee Rand's book, Reiki: The Healing Touch: First and Second Degree Manual to be one of the better instruction books for teaching first and second degree Reiki. I don't want to say "best" at this point because I have not read them all.
The Reiki News Magazine is a quarterly publication from the International Center for Reiki Training. It is a wonderful magazine.
The Big Book of Reiki Symbols by Mark Hosak and Walter Lueback is a terrific book dealing with the origins and history of Reiki as well as the meanings behind the symbols.
Hands of Light: A Guide to Healing Through the Human Energy Field by Barbara Ann Brenan is one of the best books on auric healing you will find. It was the first real book that I read on the subject over 20 years ago and I still go back to it for reference. Be warned, it is not a fluffy book.
To begin with, you need a desire to help people. If you think that you will make a lot of money through Reiki or energy healing then you will most likely be dissapointed. Most energy healers that I know became interested in this field because they wished to help people with their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual problems. This is not to say that money cannot be made through energy healing but if that is your sole purpose in learning to heal then you will not be that effective.
If you want to become a good energy healer your first step should be to learn to sense energy in its various forms. I have created a series of exercises that will help you people to learn to sense energy as well as know the sources of energy. Please visit my store's website, look in the Mystic Library section and read lesson 3, The Perception and Sources of Energy Fields. This lesson is part of my magickal series but the principles are the same for energy healers. While this lesson does not deal specifically with Reiki the sensing of energy fields is key to the Reiki technique known as Byosen Scanning - well, the sensing energy through touch portion of the lesson.
Energy healing can be broken into two large categories:
1) Forms where the practitioner is a channel for energy from a higher source
2) Forms where the practitioner learns to channel energy in precise ways to promote or encourage healing.
Reiki actually falls into both categories to some degree. It comes from the divine source of the universe and is guided by the source or an agent of the divine source. The practitioner is a conduit for the energy. We can ask for something to happen but it is up to a higher source to make it happen. On the other hand, with Byosen Scanning and several other techniques the practitioner locates the sourceof problems and focuses energy in that area.
Auric Healing falls into the second category. The practitioner scans the individual, removes energy blockages, debris, etc. and then fills in the area with specific types of energy.
When you wish to learn Reiki you should find a qualified Reiki Master Teacher (RMT) that you are comfortable with. I do not believe in "web site" or "picture" attunements. I have seen a few Reiki attunement DVDs but I do not feel that they are able to convey the attunement. I also do not believe in remote attunements. Finally, if you think you can self attune to Reiki then 99.99999% of those reading this are sorely mistaken. While there are some people who can be successfully attuned to Reiki through the methods listed they are few and far between.
Chosing an RMT can be a quick or long process. For instance, my first RMT took only a few days to find. My second RMT took even less time ... when I saw her picture on the International Center for Reiki Training website I knew that she was the one I was supposed to go to.
Here are some things to look for in an RMT
-Can they provide you their master lineage?
-How do they do attunements?
-Are they available after the attunement if you have questions?
-Will they provide a list of students or put you in contact with past students they have taught and attuned? Most people are not comfortable with giving out names and numbers but they should be willing to take your name and number (or email) and get a prior student(s) to contact you.
-How do they teach and how long does the training last for your desired level?
-What topics are covered? Is a manual provided?
-How many students are in the class? Is there a limit?
-Do they try to tell you that you should stay with one RMT through all levels?
-Do they require specific amounts of time between levels?
-How many levels do they use?
Once you find an RMT, are trained and attuned to a specific level then it becomes a matter of practice and self development.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Email is the best way to reach me.
