Dr. Chillemi believes in active patient participation. This form of treatment involves active patient participation, not just lying on a table and having therapy performed upon them. This treatment involves an active partnership, between the doctor and the patient. The patient is an active participant in the treatment. This will enable them to improve their response to treatment, their tolerance to performing their usual daily activities, decreasing pain levels, improving and maintaining proper posture, improving functional ability and stability and helping to give them control over their health and well-being. Tools such as wobble boards, balance boards, progressive resistance bands, spinal stabilizing activities and gymnastic balls are utilized to achieve these goals. By engaging in these active therapies, this can help decrease the patient’s dependency upon the doctor and give them some control over their pain and discomfort.
