My name is Lucy-Ann Prideaux. I am a registered Nutritionist in the UK. My formal qualifications include an MSc degree in Human Nutrition, and a 1st class BSc degree in Sports Science. I also hold numerous certificates in fitness training, and I am also a qualified Ayurvedic Diet and Lifestyle educator, having studied with the European Institute of Vedic Studies.
I have a passion for helping people, and specifically in helping individuals find optimum health via food and lifestyle change. This, coupled with my knowledge of many styles of cuisine(including vegan, vegetarian and raw cuisine)and it’s role as a primary healing force in life - for optimal digestion, disease prevention and in sports performance), and an ever-expanding knowledge of nutritional science, has led to my current roles as business owner, nutrition consultant to individuals, groups & businesses, freelance writer and presenter.
I run a consultancy called "Simply Nutrition". Please visit me at www.simply-nutrition.co.uk.
I have over 20 years of experience working with people, and have attracted many individuals aiming to achieve better health through dietary, lifestyle and behavioural change. I inspire people to take responsibility for their health, improve self-awareness and provide individuals with up-to-date food and nutrition education, as well as provide on-going support. My clients originate from all walks of life. I work with the general public, athletes, sports teams, as well as companies and organisations, interested or involved in food, lifestyle and nutrition education.
The story so far...
I have a Masters degree in Human Nutrition, which I gained in 1997, following my bachelor degree studies in Sport and Exercise Science. Prior to that (in my early 20’s) I taught exercise classes, and personal training, alongside my own training and competing in triathlon. Since focusing primarily on Nutrition and food education, I am lucky and extremely grateful to have worked in a wide and rather diverse variety of settings, both with the general public, businesses and corporations, athletes and sports teams, but always aiming to do one thing… improve people’s knowledge and understanding of food and nutrition, and “healthy living”, and what that means to them. It is vital that each individual knows how he or she can use newfound knowledge to get where they want to go! After all, knowledge is not true knowledge until we have lived it! I’ve had wonderful learning opportunities and as such, have gained a wealth of experience as a practising Nutritionist, as well as developing my skills as a writer, and internet entrepreneur. My work is a true passion for me – simply because it enables me to do what I love doing… interacting with a variety of people, to teach and educate in exciting and inspiring ways, and of course to support people too, on their own personal journeys to better health, sustained weight loss, improved fitness, improved athletic performance, spiritual growth or simply more happiness and contentment in their lives. I always feel very privileged and grateful to be in such a position, to make a real and lasting difference to people’s lives. Naturally, I have a passionate interest and fascination with the subject of nutrition (relating to both ancient traditions, as well as modern science and modern living) but more specifically in the fact that what we eat (and how we live our lives) truly does affect our entire physical, mental, emotional AND spiritual health and well-being.
I bring to all aspects of my work, my growing knowledge and experience from my never-ending studies in Nutrition, health and well-being, and my own sporting and fitness background, as well my interest (and study) in Ayurvedic Medicine, vegan cuisine, and spiritual development.
Please contact me if you would like to colaborate with me, or want me to help you, and support you (or your clients) toward better health, fitness and success".
InterestsMy main "everyday" interests outside of “work” are walking in the countryside near to where I live, swimming regularly, yoga and Pilates, and reading just about anything and everything to do with food, nutrition, herbs, natural health, and personal development. I love to prepare and eat wonderful organic/natural food with my partner. Ayurvedic medicine (the ancient Indian science and philosophy of health and well-being) began as an interest or fascination to me some 5 years ago, but is now something I have completed formal study in. I am trained with the European Institute of Vedic Studies, and was taught by Atreya. Ayurveda may be an "ancient" science (dating back some 5000 years), but it's still one that is highly relevant today, to human health, natural living, and prevention of disease. I incorporate many aspects of Ayruveda into my own life (particularly the use of herbs and spices, and daily spiritual practise), and where appropriate, into my working life too. I love the countryside and the natural surroundings and coastline where I live, and believe that Mother Nature is our true teacher and companion in life!
