Linda Marks, MSM, has been a pioneer in the field of body psychotherapy for the past 26 years. She received degrees from Yale and MIT. She is the founder of the Institute for Emotional-Kinesthetic Psychotherapy, (EKP), a heart-centered, psychospiritual method of mind-body psychotherapy.
EKP creates a safe, sacred and intimate healing environment that deeply touches and transforms. When our hearts and heads can work as one, we safely and respectfully move beyond defenses and limitations and find freedom, connection and expression. EKP works with the power of the heart, since the heart generates the strongest electromagnetic field in the body. Creating emotional safety allows us to access our deeper experience: sensations, feelings and deeper thoughts. This helps us get underneath triggers in relationships, and connect more deeply, authentically and intimately.
Linda founded the Boston Area Sexuality and Spirituality Network in 2000, and has presented nationally and internationally on living with vision, making peace with money, healing the traumatized heart, integrating sexuality and spirituality, sacred and erotic touch, and community as healer. She co-founded the first body psychotherapy state professional association in the US in 1988, which wrote a Code of Ethics for body psychotherapy, including an ethics of touch.
Linda has taught at many conferences, given sermons at UU churches on Sexuality and Spirituality and the Essence of Gender, and has taught at many major teaching centers. She has appeared on radio and tv including New Dimensions Radio, Wisconsin Public Radio, and the Montel Williams Show. She has published two books, Living With Vision: Reclaiming the Power of the Heart (Knowledge Systems, 1988) and Healing the War Between the Genders: The Power of the Soul-Centered Relationship (HeartPowerPress, 2004).
Linda works with individuals, couples, families and groups in the Boston area, incorporating body psychotherapy, coaching and mediation. She trains body psychotherapists in an apprenticeship program. She has written and published hundreds of articles. Linda served on the Board of the Association for Humanistic Psychology and the Institute for 21st Century Relationship. She works with people of all lifestyles, gender identities and orientations.
Listen to your body, follow your heart.
Emotional safety is the foundation for healing and for deep, intimate connection with self and loved ones.
