I am a certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist. There are two types of yoga therapy, one in which uses yoga postures as a form of physical therapy that is perscriptive with the goal of physical healing. The second type is Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, a style in which is psycho-theraputic in its approach with the goal of finding release in both emotional and the physical realms. As Elissa Cobb states in her book The Forgotten Body, "Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy is a non-perscriptive, highly specialized, profoundly effective method of getting to know one's self through one's body." In a one-on-one session, I will coach you into the present moment and the exerience of recognizing what's happening in your body, mind, and emotions. The benefits of learning from yourself are endless as I have experienced first hand and continue to do.
I am also a certified Hatha Yoga instructor. I have a 500 Registered Yoga Teacher recognition through Yoga Alliance. My yoga practice began in 1998 and has continued through many different styles ranging from Bikram to Ashatanga to Restorative yoga. Currently I teach classes at Center for Pain and Supportive Care, a medical facility specializing in the treatment of chronic and cancer pain management.
My masters degree is in Education. I use that degree everyday in my classes and with the myriad of workshops I teach throughout the year.
