Really, I don't like the word "expert"! We're all just people, doing what we do, knowing what we know, being what we are....

I was raised on a ranch in Colorado, back in the days when there were still one-room country schoolhouses. I attended one of those for 2 years, until it was closed; then we had to go 10 miles to school in town. : ^ (

I grew up thinking I would be a graphic artist or a writer -- but got diverted into "Science" instead. I was blessed to be dis-illusioned of that idea while still in college. Then I spent 16 years practicing writing. Then got tired of words, and Reiki found me. A few years later, Macrobiotics found me; and Jourei, a few years after that. I practiced Reiki for 8 years before receiving my initiation as a "Reiki Master" -- which allowed me to initiate others. Immediately after that, a sequence of great serendipities began to unfold.
Reiki, Jourei, and Macrobiotics brought me back to writing -- first a website about all 3, and then a book about Reiki.

Don Beckett, after growing up in the wilds of northwestern Colorado, received a Bachelor's Degree in Zoology from Arizona State University. He returned to Colorado, crossed the mountains, and lived in Boulder for 6 years. After that he spent 11 years in Oregon, and several short periods in both Mexico and Arizona. Then, a few years at a world-renowned hot springs in Utah. He visited Singapore, lived in Bali for a while, returned to Arizona, spent 5 years in Hawai'i.

Beckett's favorite jobs, working for other people, have been: surveying highways for the State of Colorado, and washing dishes in a restaurant in Portland, Oregon. His favorite self-employments have been writing and working with subtle energies.

Don has been practicing Reiki since 1991, teaching and initiating others since 1999. In 2000 he became a member of Johrei Fellowship. In 2006 he was authorized to teach Quan Yin Joray. In 2010 he began teaching his own system of Jourei. Many of Don's students are in faraway places. They find him through his website Reiki, Shinki, Macrobiotics, and correspond by email. He also has taught many students in person — in the U.S., Bali, Romania, Turkey, Italy, and Serbia.

Don's latest project is working with the spiritual energy of Shinki ("God-energy" or "Source-energy"), through a method he co-founded with Dragan Pavlovic of Serbia — The Shinki Method.

Having noticed that reality can flow as well from Disease to Health as from Health to Disease, it occurred to him that reality would also flow not only in the direction of increasing age, but in the direction of increasing youthfulness. With this observation in mind, Beckett decided, in 2009, to start growing younger instead of older.

One thing offered through my website, which I greatly recommend, is the receiving of an energetic empowerment called Reiju ("giving Spirit"). This is available to anyone, with or without Reiki experience. Reiju can be received once, twice, any number of times -- and is especially helpful when done weekly, or even daily. Time and distance cause no problem in giving and receiving Reiju. I do Reiju with many people, all around the world, every day. All I ask is that people be undisturbed, relaxed, and consciously receptive for 10-15 minutes.

Another thing greatly recommended is the receiving of Reiki through our Distant Reiki Healing Circle. As you will see on the web page, this is recommended not only when symptoms of disease are apparent, but all the time. Reiki very effectively connects us to the real Self ... and our Healing Circle maintains that connection every hour of every day and night. This being the case, we do not ask for your conscious participation as a recipient in the Healing Circle -- only that you willingly allow the Reiki to "do its thing" (which it does best when we are most relaxed, during sleep!).

One of my favorite thoughts is that ALL IS WELL. That we can never really go wrong. That any "mistake" we ever make shall be overcome. Life gobbles up mistakes, along with everything else, and digests All That Is, and turns it all into perfection. We're all on the road to perfection ... and nothing can cause us to go anywhere else, because there is nowhere else to go! There is no other possible destination!! (When I truly realized that, on a deep level -- I felt so-o-o good and so-o-o at ease, it cannot be described! : ^ )

This perfection we are unfolding is what Sages throughout the Ages have called Self-realization. Truly, that's all there is. That's the road we are all traveling -- and, along the way, our thoughts and beliefs and feelings give us great influence on the events and people and situations that come into our lives.

Mikao Usui, the founder of what is now called Reiki, called his method merely a method for achieving personal perfection -- which is just another way of saying Self-realization. We are all in the process of realizing our true identity as the One and Only, holographic Self....

I mentioned (above) a great sequence of serendipities in my life. Many of these (since 1999) have involved my receiving of information originating in Japan, which reveals quite a different picture of Usui Reiki than the one presented by the Hayashi-Takata version for 70+ years. This trail of serendipities led to the writing and publication of an ebook, which grew through 7 editions ... and, most recently, to the writing and publication of a print book, Reiki, The True Story.
