I am a psychotherapist and psychoanalyst who has been in practice for over 25 years in New York. Before my training as a therapist/analyst, I received a PhD in Sociology and worked as a Sociologist, first at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine and then at Adelphi University. My interests in the Sociology of Mental Illness and Death Grief and Bereavement contributed to my interests in working with people therapeutically.
In my practice, I work with individuals, couples and groups. A major focus of my work is on issues that are related to the process of Individuation. I have found that young people, especially in their twenties and thirties often suffer from anxiety and depression as a result of not having fully developed the ability to have and express their own unique thoughts and feelings. I have also been working with parents who have anxieties and difficulties when their children are trying to become separate individuals.
In addition to my clinical work, I am a supervisor, training analyst and faculty member at the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center in New York.
