Dr. Ann has been counseling people professionally for nearly twenty years. Her clients are mostly teenagers and adults with all sorts of problems: work stress; marriage problems; relationship tension; just plain bad relationships; family difficulties; problems w/teenagers; domestic violence; drug/alcohol abuse; sexual addiction; depression; anxiety or panic attacks; anger; grief; guilt; jealousy; sexual problems; sexual identity problems; financial worries; traumatic experiences; fear; or simply needing to make a change. Some problems are worse than others and some take longer to heal. Dr. Ann believes in making each session count, believing that you can benefit from therapy whether you come once or many times.
Dr. Ann thinks one needs to do things in order to really change. Thinking about the problem, talking it over, planning a solution, procrastinating about implementing the plan are all preliminary, but do not result in actual change. She is a process-oriented rather than solution focused therapist. People come to counseling when they are stuck. They may not know what to do next or they may know but be unable to do it. The therapist's task is simply to find the shovel or the pieces of cardboard, assist in putting them under the tires, putting the driver at the wheel and showing how to rock the car to get it unstuck, pushing from behind, and then waving as they drive away. The intent is that the next time they get stuck they'll know how to get themselves unstuck, or at least, where to call for help.
Dr. Ann is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (FL-MH3440) with a master's degree from the University of Central Florida in Counseling and a Doctorate from Southern California University in Psychology. She is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NBC#32454), a Nationally Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist (NBCCH #1836), a Nationally Certified Addictions Counselor (NAADAC #502019 and has met State requirements as a Sex Therapist. She currently is in private practice in Altamonte Springs.
Athough the constant shadow of certain death looms over every day, the pleasures and joys of life can be so fine and deeply affecting that the heart is nearly stilled by astonishment.
Dean Koontz
Pursue, keep up with, circle round and round your life, as a dog does his master's chaise. Do what you love. Know your own bone; gnaw at it, bury it, unearth it, and gnaw it still.
Henry David Thoreau
Do you have a body? Don't sit on the porch! Go out and walk in the rain!

Men stumble over the truth from time to time, but most pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing happened.

When I hear somebody sigh, "Life is hard," I am always tempted to ask, "Compared to what?"
Sydney J. Harris
Difficult times have helped me to understand better than before how infinitely rich and beautiful life is in every way and that so many things that one goes worrying about are of no importance whatsoever.

Even without wars, life is dangerous.

Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else - you are the one who gets burned.

Surely this must be an ancient proverb: If the situation is killing you, get the hell out.
Hugh Prather
Spend the afternoon. You can't take it with you.
Annie Dillard
My friend, come sit
With me inside my pain
Don't tell me it is right or wrong
Or give it any name.
Just sit and feel it with me
Until you understand.
Then I can start to speak of it
And take your outstretched hand.
Come sit with me in my darkest corners
And feel the world the way it is for me.
Let me draw you pictures of my life
And help myself break free.
And when I find my joy within
You will be the first to share
Because you sat with me inside my pain
And showed me you could care.
