I really gained lots from the interview with Dr. Misner! Love the analogy of the cave dweller and the idea that networking is a contact sport so I've got to get out and meet people. Also the importance of diversifying my networks online and offline and assessing when's the right time to ask for referrals. Very valuable info!

The key I think is for other people to completely understand what you do. So often people make assumptions about each other's businesses - even if they go to the same group week after week. One2One meetings are incredibly valuable in this respect, and help build remove these assumptions, gain clarity as well as build relationships

Pertaining to networking, the best way I find networking is attending conferences classes and seminars where people are looking for the information or the service you provide. Establishing common ground and memorable contact fascilitates a greater future response. If you farm, to use Mr. Misner's analogy rather than hooking, the hooking and harvesting will better follow with a better foundation.

I'm a building contractor and always felt I am a weak marketer. I have considered some network marketing and that is what led me to this video. From this video I realized that because I am a great contractor, I get a lot of referral business, because my experience is my credibility. If I am going to succeed in network marketing, I probably need a strong sponsor with success in the industry - he has the experience and credibility. This video contains some very simple tips that just turn around the very concept of networking. Many people don't like "selling" anything and the author says here that it's not selling, it's the process of referrals, and that's great because people try to enhance their quality in order to get more referrals and thus they get their profits and that's 100% logical!

I attended Dr. Misner's Referral Institute course, CNP (Certified Networking Professional) His VCP concept is invaluable if used properly. Building relationships, thru one to one conversations using "givers gain" philosophy is what makes credibility happen more quickly. I suggest reading his book Masters of Networking.
