Over the years, it has been well documented that human beings have both a conscious and an unconscious mind. One way to get an idea of the difference would be to see the former as the tip of the iceberg and the latter as the part of the iceberg that can’t be seen.

Another way of looking at this would be to say that the former is located up top, in the mind, while the latter is located down below, in the body. Further, not only is one part a lot bigger than the other, it also has far more influence.

A Massive Help

So, when it comes to how you behave, most of what you do will take place without you needing to think about it. In other words, you will spend a lot of your time running on autopilot.

This will save you a lot of energy as if you had to think about how to behave in each moment of your life, it would take a lot of effort. However, if you automatically behave in ways that don’t serve you, this will be a problem.

Drawing the Line

For your behaviour to change, you will need to become aware of what you do that doesn’t serve you and to change your behaviour. One way for you to do this would be to find out what is going on at a deeper level and to make a few adjustments.

Once you do this, you can find that your behaviour changes by itself. Another way would be for you to overlook what is taking place at a deeper level and to simply change your behaviour.

Going Deeper

At times this approach may work, but at others, it might not lead to the desired outcome. Ultimately, whether changing your behaviour is enough can all depend on what it is that you want to change.

If, for example, you continually attract the wrong type of person or if you continually sabotage your own life, it might be a good idea for you to look at what is taking place in your conscious mind. By taking this route, you will be able to find out why your life is the way that it is.

Shinning the Light

What is clear is that although you will consciously want to attract a certain type of person or to move forward in your life, a bigger part of you won’t be on board with this. To find out what is taking place deep down within you, you can use something called ‘word association’.

This will allow you to indirectly connect to the reasons why you attract a certain type of person or hold yourself back. To do this, you could find a sheet of paper and write ‘relationships’ or ‘success’ at the top of the page.

Let It Flow

For this process to work, it will be important for you to write down whatever comes into your mind. There is no right or wrong answer here; the sole purpose of this exercise to allow what is deep in your unconscious mind/body to rise to the surface.

This could be a time when you come to see that, at a deeper level, you don’t have a positive view of relationships or people, or, you may find that you perceive success as something that is negative and as a threat to your survival. Based on what you learn by engaging in this exercise, it will become clear as to why your life is the way that it is.

Staying on Track

This can be a time when your ego will try to sabotage this process by dismissing or minimising what comes up from your unconscious mind. No matter what information rises up, your mind might not want to acknowledge it.

The key will be for you to simply be aware of when this happens and to continue to allow what is deep within you to be heard. The ego-mind will do this to protect you as what comes up can be seen as a treat to your survival.

How Can I Serve You?

After you have a rough idea about why your life is the way that it is, you can start to question what you believe. During this time, you may also come into contact with emotional pain that needs to be resolved.

If you can relate to what I have written and need additional support, one of the ways that I can provide this is through the personalised consultations that I offer via Skype or Zoom.
