Are you an amateur photographer who is really interested in wildlife photography? Let's see how you can take your wildlife photography to the next level. I will share some tips which would be useful for an amateur photographer. You can make use of these tips to improve your photography.

Shoot in RAW

Always shoot in RAW. You have spent so much money on buying a DSLR camera or a mirrorless camera, so why do you want to still shoot in JPEG format. Start shooting in RAW to get more details in the scene.

Use Telephoto Lens

Use a telephoto lens to capture your images. For wildlife photography, you always need that extra reach. If you don't have enough money to invest in a good telephoto lens you can still go for the 55-250 mm kit lens. This is a pretty decent telephoto lens to start. If you are ready to invest slightly more, then better go for the 70- 300mm. Invest on a prime telephoto lens like 500 mm of 800 mm only if you are really interested in wildlife photography. Otherwise, don't waste money on such expensive camera gears.

Learn your Equipment Properly

It doesn't matter whether you buy a budget DSLR camera or a high-end DSLR camera. You should know how to operate it. It is of no use you if you buy a high-end camera and still don't know how to use it. Learn how to control your camera properly.

Learn Exposure

You should learn how to expose an image properly. In order to learn exposure, you should learn what is ISO, Aperture and Shutter speed in photography. Learn to set these parameters according to different lighting conditions.

Shoot with Less Noise

Your camera may be capable of shooting up to ISO 12,800. It doesn't mean that you can always go for the high ISO values. Always go for the lowest possible ISO value. Higher values of ISO will result in lots of grains in the image.

Learn Image Composition

Once you learn to expose an image properly, the next thing that you should try is Image composition. To start off with you can try composing scenes by using basic rules of composition, which include the rule of thirds, composition with vertical and horizontal composition with diagonals and composition with curves.

Follow the works of other Wildlife Photographers

It is always a good practice to follow the works of other good Wildlife photographers. This will help you to give a better idea on different angles and techniques they used to shoot wildlife. You can also join any good photography forums to learn more photography tips.

Learn Post Processing

It is a good practice to process your images once you are back from a wildlife photography trip. So, ensure that you always capture your image in RAW format. You can process your images in photo editing tools like Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Lightroom. I recommend using Adobe Lightroom since it is photographer friendly.

Make use of this tips and start shooting wildlife images.
