Why?

-Because you need to.

-Because the statistics are very grim, very scary.

-You live 5 years on average, longer than men.

-You make less money than men, overall.

-You are much more likely to be poor.

-Most of the residents in nursing homes are women.

I know you have heard these stats. I talk about them all the time and so do many others. So, what are you going to do about it? You certainly can't leave it in the hands of someone else. At least, that is my personal opinion.

Men are great. I love men. But, they are not a 'retirement plan' for most women. Is that true for you? Are you relying on a man? If so, I truly hope it all works out for you. Most of you can't do that. Things happen.

I heard this great term the other day in an article I read:

"Financial Purse-onality"

Isn't that a great term? Wish I had come up with this myself. The people who created this clever term came from the JLSCL Headquarters. (Junior League Salt Lake City, along with Allstate).

So, ladies, what you are you going to do to turn this around? Not for all the women in the world but for yourself? I can't speak to all the women in the world but I can speak for you. What can you do, you yourself, to be sure you are safe financially in those 'golden years'?

I think one of the easiest and least expensive businesses to set up is a coaching business. You can do it from home, not a lot of startup fees. There are some of course, there always are. Do you have a phone? Do you have a computer? Then you are ready to rock and roll and know your financial future is safe in your hands. Will it makes you tons of money over night? Of course not. This is not a 'get rich quick' program.

The other thing I know is that you have gifts, skills, experiences, abilities and talents that are unique to you. Not everyone has what you have.

As women after 50 we are blessed with our histories and our experience in life. Please don't ever think you aren't worth much more than a hill of beans. It simply isn't true. I suspect you take them for granted. You don't realize that others want what you can give them, help them with.

There are people out there that need you. Why would you withhold that from them? Please don't.

My Coaches request to you: Take a look at your life. What have you learned after all these years? What can others learn from you that they want? If you can't figure out what your gifts are, ask a friend. They will tell you.
