This is one question that we can be pretty sure that just about every person on this earth has asked him or herself at one time or another.

Not that long ago (1981), we heard about Dr. Raymond Moody’s book “Life After Life”, which documents his experiences and research with cardiac patients who had died and been miraculously revived. Many of these patients described having experienced going to another realm. They described going through a tunnel, seeing a white light, and being greeted by loved ones who had passed.

Scientist had explained this as a physiological effect; but how could a person remember these experiences after being dead? Also, many patients described seeing people in other rooms and what they were doing. How could they do this when they were lying unconscious on the surgical table? They even described seeing things in the room, which were not visible to the people in the same room, but later were found to, in fact, be present.

Dr. Moody did his research all around the world and found many of these patients described the same type of experiences, regardless of nationality or religion, which changed their view of death and dying. No longer were they afraid of dying knowing what to expect, and that, in reality, it was a beautiful experience. Many patients did not want to return to their physical bodies, and only did so after being reminded of the families they would be leaving behind.

In Dr. Brian Weiss’ book “Many Lives, Many Masters”, he describes his unexpected findings from client hypnotherapy sessions. He found that his clients were going further back in time to past lives and experiences. Dr. Weiss is well known for his research on this topic which helps in finding more pieces to the puzzle of life.

The next book to bring even more light to the question of the afterlife was Dr. Michael Newton’s book “Journey of Souls” and “Destiny of Souls”. Dr. Newton discovered that his clients would not only go to a past life, but they would be able to describe what happened to them after they left that life. Ironically, even though these clients were not “clinically dead”, as were Dr. Moody’s subjects, they described the same tunnel, white light and being greeted by loved ones and much, much more.

Even though Dr. Newton conducted these life between life sessions all around the world, as Dr. Moody did, the experiences were similar in that it did not matter the nationality or religion of the client. The experiences were very similar. They incorporated feelings of peace, calm and safety. They were met by loved ones who had passed and were given profound messages.

These clients were guided to other realities and spiritual beings and were met with love and understanding. There were no judgments or criticisms. Any question could be asked and was answered with wisdom and truth.

As we continue the research on this fascinating subject, we can be confident that, at least, we now have much more data to evaluate, maybe coming closer to the answers to “What happens to us after we leave this life?”.
