If you’re anything like me then you often see yourself somewhat contented with your life the way things are, but often you look around you and dream of what your life would be if only you did things a little differently.

We all aspire for something deeper and more meaningful. To fulfill your purpose, to become more successful that you ever imagined.

But life gets in the way. There are kids to take care of, bills that need to be paid, jobs we need to go to and so on. Before you know it we are so far off track that we have no idea where the time went or how we ended up where we are. Broken, tired and still the dream persists...

10 questions you should ask to yourself: a preparation to self-improvement

1. What do I really want?

Or as I like to put it, what do I want to be when I grow up, is an age old question. There are so many things that need to be accomplished, so many things to do, but time is always limited.

Find something that you are love to do, something that brings you joy, peace and is of value to others. Be persistent and never, ever give up on your dreams.

2. Why should I change?
We are in a era of redefining 'self', or at least that's what all of the magazines, websites and TV shows are saying. What would be the outcome if you do change, what would be the outcome if you don't change?

If we’ve learned one thing in our short time here on this earth, it is that change is inevitable. It is to be expected, it is natural. Seasons change, circumstances change. How do you handle new challenges/obstacles when they arise?

3. What's in it for me?

When we experience difficult and troubling times, its hard to see the brighter side. Choosing to ignore the positive side of an event, does not mean it doesn't exist. You have to look for it!

Whatever you focus on becomes larger and expands. Focus on the positive and you'll enjoy that experience, and you’ll learn from it as well. Focus on the negative, and you’ll sink deeper and deeper into a state of loneliness and hopelessness and you may even miss some key information that you need in order to grow and create.

4. Am I comfortable with who I am?

There's always the easy way and the right way when it comes to deciding what goes with which shoes, or purse or an outfit. Variety is key and not everyone can be the same or have the same destiny. Learn and grow into who you were meant to be.

5. Have I done enough for myself?

Have you, or is there something more you want to do? Discontentment in every aspect can be dangerous in large doses, but in small amounts you'll be able to see and do stuff you could never imagine doing. And remember, you grow so much more, when you have new and meaningful experiences.

6. Am I happy at where I am today?

Dig deep and get to the core of your feelings on this one. Identify many areas, not just one where you truly are happy. Are you a good parent, sibling, aunt, uncle, bean counter or button pusher? Its doesn't matter what it is, identify it and then do more of it!

7. Am I appealing to the opposite sex?

Love your body. We all have things about ourselves that we'd like to change. If you're not where you would like to be, set a plan and work on it. Whether you shape-up, updated your wardrobe, get that new haircut,or even your attitude towards people, you should always remember that you should do this to benefit yourself and not because it was forced upon you by the opinion of others.

8. How much could I have?

How much do you dream you can have? There is no such things as having to much or too little, but there is such a thing as having a limiting mindset.

Are you willing to work for your dreams or are you okay with being where you are, letting your dreams fade away.

9. What motivates You?

What motivates you? It's an answer you have to find out for yourself. There are so many things that can make everyone happy, but to choose one of the may be the hardest part. It's not like you can't have one serving of your favorite food in a buffet and that's it. Just try it piece by piece.

10. What Really Inspires you?

So? What really inspires you? You have to power to control your destiny. Stepping outside of your comfort zone to achieve your dreams may seem very difficult but it is a critical component on the road to success. Self-improvement is not just about the physical or philosophical change you have to undergo, it is the key to unlocking the door to your future.
