Yup, that’s what I said.
Do I have your attention?
Alright, let’s talk.

I’m not advocating acting as if no one else in the world matters. What I am saying is how many of your decisions are based on what you think someone else may think or say? Do you follow your dreams or do you worry what someone would think of you? Do you step outside your comfort zone or stop short so people won’t question your actions?

Do you see where I’m heading with this?

Growing up, I’ve lost count of the times I was told not to do or say something because:
• What would the neighbors think…
• This isn’t the way things are done…
• No one has ever done that before…
• Don’t you want to be like everyone else…
And the biggest one: Girls don’t do that!

Those statements didn’t make sense to me. I always felt a bit like an oddball because I felt there was more. It became very confusing to balance my perceptions against these insidious under currents. I choose to play small and conform. Yet deep inside, a part of me rebelled!

Well, guess what?! Now I choose to follow my dreams. Holding onto those limiting beliefs does not serve me in achieving my dreams.

Listen to your heart and move towards your dreams. Worrying about how others perceive your dreams doesn’t serve you. This is your vision, no one else’s. Each of us has that unique gift waiting to be shared.

Following your dreams and visions requires standing strong in your convictions. Nothing new has ever been discovered by following the same path everyone else has. Throughout history, people who were considered non-conformists are the same people we now hold in high esteem for their insight or ingenuity. Would this have happened if they had worried about what everyone thought of them?

This means keeping sight of your dreams along your journey. Well-meaning people will feel they have your best interest at heart by telling you your ideas are too risky. When in actuality, they are worried you’ll upset their world by stretching yours.

If you feel right about the desire behind your dreams, don’t let anything stop you. It’s normal for doubt and hesitancy to set in. One notion that may surface for you is a feeling of inadequacy. You may be concerned that you are undeserving of success or happiness. You’re moving outside your old comfort zone and your body is reacting by sending our warning signals.

These fears or doubts may cause you to re-think your actions. Look at yourself in the mirror and state, “Why not now!” You empower yourself to begin changing your life this very moment. There is no time like the present and honestly, no time BUT the present. When you aim for your dreams, seize the day and make the most of your resources. As you open to the possibilities, you will find doors opening where before there was only a wall.

There truly is no compelling reason why you should put off the pursuit of your dreams. All the joy, passion and contentment you can envision can be yours. Waiting for the perfect time or place will only hold you back. Remind yourself that small steps towards your dreams will bring you closer to living your vision. There is nothing standing between you and the fulfillment of your dreams. If you decide that today is the day you will take your destiny into your hands, you will soon discover that you hold the key to your fate.

The time for action is now!!!

Today is the first and the last day of the rest of your life.

How are you going to choose to live your life? As if nothing matters or as if everything matters? You have the choice to move towards your dreams or listen to the nay-sayers.

What you think of me is none of my business!

As always, have an awesome day!
