Butt enhancement procedures have been used for years to improve the size, shape, and contour of the buttocks. There are so many methods to choose from today, the selection of which would depend on your desired results. Each of these varies in terms of cost, downtime or even how long the results would typically last.

Butt injections continue to gain popularity over other enhancement procedures for two main reasons:

a) The process is far less invasive compared to, for instance getting silicone butt implants put in, that would require you to go under the knife and;

b) Recovery downtime is much less. Patients are able to resume their normal activities within days.

Types of butt injections:

-The Sculptra Butt Injection

-Brazilian Butt Lift

-PMMA Injections & Hydrogel Injections

Sculptra (a poly-L-lactic (PLLA) was originally used and FDA approved as a facial dermal filler to smooth out wrinkles and deep creases thus improving the lift, appearance, and plumpness. Compared to other facial dermal fillers which are injected into the skin to plump it up immediately, Sculptra's effects are more gradual: It works by stimulating natural collagen production over a period of a couple months.

It did not take long for Sculptra to be used as an Inject-able butt enhancer, and though not yet FDA approved for the butt, there have been no adverse effects reported for its use in the buttock area, and continues to be used and endorsed by many high profile plastic surgeons and dermatologists in the world. By strategically injecting Sculptra to stimulate collagen production, the hip and buttock area can be sculpted. It is also reported to minimize cellulite and improve stretch marks. Because the effects of the injection are gradual, this makes the results seem a lot more natural and the intentional improvement not easily detected.

Patients who opt for Sculptra as a butt injection typically have two or three treatment sessions, six weeks apart. The area to be injected is numbed with topical lidocaine. After about half an hour, the injections follow.

The procedure takes several minutes and the common immediate side effects would be redness, pain, swelling, and tenderness in the area. These usually subside in a matter of days. Bruises at the point of injection tend to disappear within 7 to 10 days. For about 5 days post procedures, it is recommended to massage the area throughout the day.

Patients can start to see results as early as 6 weeks after treatment. However, it is not until around the 6-month mark that the optimal outcome is achieved. Results last between 1 to 2 years.

Sculptra butt injections are popular among women ages 25- 45, looking for natural buttock improvements. It is ideal for those trying to avoid downtime, general anesthesia or scarring. Body type would range from young athletic women who, because of their dietary restrictions and exercise, have lost body fat located in the upper part of their buttocks. This has given them a more masculine build and they would like to restore their more feminine contours. Others may just want to diminish cellulite or stretchmarks so their ultimate goal is to improve skin texture around the area.

The cost of getting Sculptra butt injections can vary. A single vial costs about USD 1000 and the estimated number of vials used per patient ranges between 4 and 7.

Using liposuction, fat is extracted from other areas of the body such as the abdomen or thighs then injected into the buttocks or hips. The surgeon will proceed to shape and sculpt the buttocks for desired results.

As it is a more invasive procedure compared to alternative butt injections, pain and discomfort during recovery may be a bit more.

Results of a Brazilian Butt Lift are permanent. Compared to other butt injections, Brazillian Butt Lift uses your own body fat cells. This has been shown to significantly reduce the possibility of rejection by the body. It is currently one of the FDA approved Buttock Augmentation options. Note that because it is a surgical procedure, the general risks like infection are a possibility. Nonetheless, if done properly in a safe medically approved facility by a certified medical practitioner, you shall be able to achieve the desired results.

PMMA (Polymethyl Methacrylate) fillers are made up of 80% collagen gel and 20% PMMA suspended in the collagen gel. How a PMMA filler works are; following the injection, collagen is broken down and this would, in turn, stimulate the body to produce its own collagen. As a result, there is additional volume added to the buttock area.

PMMA poses serious health risks, some of which would even result in death. For this reason, it is classified as illegal for use in the USA and many other countries in the world for use a buttock injectable.

Hydrogel injections as a butt enhancement are also not approved by the FDA as an injection suitable for the buttock. Hydrogel itself has and continues to be used as a filler in the face to enhance features like thin lips. However, because unhealthy quantities of Hydrogel would even be needed to achieve any noticeable results in the buttock, a number of unlicensed medical practitioners purported to be able to administer Hydrogel butt injections at attractive and suspiciously low prices. This obviously leads to a number of serious health complications being reported in many countries. No reputable plastic surgeon would recommend Hydrogel Injections for butt enhancement.

Just like any other medical procedure you would consider done to your body, do your research beforehand when it comes to butt injections. Consider the reputability of the facility or practitioner who is going to carry out the procedure and ensure they are appropriately licensed and experienced. This will reduce the risk of having any complications arise, that would otherwise be avoided. Be cautious about cheap prices being advertised. This may be a negative indication of the purity of the injectable. Consult your doctor to ensure the injection of choice will not affect your overall well being. The ultimate goal is the enhancement but not at the expense of your health.
