To reach the success heights, UI/UX design has become the standard recipe for tech industry serving in different domains. The tech industry is a performance-driven industry. However, it takes a lot of time to be in the spotlight, but once someone reach the new heights, there will be no looking back. Well, coming to the point, every designer in IT industry claims to be the master of designing tools. But, are they actually skilled enough to match the industry standards and meet the requirements of the technical world to compete against the competitors? Being a UX design expertise not only limited to being a design ninja but also the person who should have the ability to understand the requirements. Don’t be that company who ends up hiring an amateur UI/UX designer in the disguise of expert UI/UX designer. The skills required today might not complete the future demands. So, what are the skills that qualify the UX designer as an expert? Here, we have narrowed down a few skills that one should look before hiring a good UX designer and UI designer. But before that, have a brief look at the basic difference betwee User Experience (UX) design and User Interface (UI) design. By going with the definition, User Experience design is the process of enhancing user satisfaction by improving the usability, accessibility, and pleasure factor of the product offered by an organization. Whereas, User Interface design is the design of user interfaces of software, devices, and gadgets. UI design is mainly focused on enhancing the usability to provide amazing user-experience. By going with the definitions of UX design and UI design, it can be determined that how closely intertwined these two designs are. Now, let’s have a look at the required skills for UI/UX designers: 1. Responsive Design: Responsive design has become the ultimate need of the hour. Responsive design is important for the tech industry as it provides compatibility with multiple devices. To meet these requirements, the UI/UX designer should be skilled enough in creating responsive designs. The approach to achieve responsive design should not stick to the utilization of traditional wireframes. 2. User-Centric Design: The UI/UX designers should know about the user behavior. For beginners, they might be familiar with user personas and are able to create user-centric designs, but an expert should know how the user behaves and what they are actually looking for. A professional designer works upon the personas and comes up with desired outcomes. 3. Optimize Tasks and Deliver Desired Outcomes: When starting the project, analyze the basic requirements and optimize those tasks. An experienced UX designer should be efficient enough to re-work on the current tasks and come up with the creative and productive design. A professional and experienced UI/UX designer should know how to analyze and optimize the task and deliver a user-friendly product to the customers. 4. In-depth Knowledge of Software and Digital Tools: Have a clear thought before opting for UI/UX design, as they have noticeably different skillset. UX designer should have the entire knowledge of the updated versions of Photoshop, Illustrator, or Sketch, whereas UI designer must be knowing at least any one of these tools. Apart from these, they must be having additional knowledge of various other software as Adobe After Effects, InVision, UXPin, etc. However, in the end, it all depends on the firm’s requirement. 5. Attention To Detail and Time Management: It requires a keen eye to perform designing tasks. The profession of UI/UX designer is collaborative. When it comes to projects and making any minor to major changes, they need to collaborate with internal and exte al teams. To bring the project to the completion stage, time-management also plays a vital role to turn a project roadmap into a successful and creative outcome. It requires time-management to collaborate with the teams and come-up with the desired and user-friendly solution. The project completion also requires a commitment to the project details from its initial phase. From consulting with clients, to analyzing the tasks, from creating prototypes to performing usability testing, all these requires attention to detail. The UI/UX designer cannot bear to miss out on any minor details. 6. Creative Enough to Create Unique Designs: A designer needs to be creative and skilled enough to design unique layouts for the website or applications. Adopt a unique approach, use design methodologies and come-up with a user-friendly design. A good UI/UX designer should always perform in-depth research even before initiating the project roadmap. Being a professional designer, they must now how to justify the undertaking design decisions to deliver a data-centric design. Verdict: Eventually, every UI/UX designer have their own set of tools and techniques in which they have mastered themselves. One cannot have all these above-mentioned skills. Off course, a designer can create lame layouts and designs by simply playing with the tools, that clearly indicates the lack of abilities and qualities from what a good designer have. So, in order to achieve user-friendly and desired design goals in UI/UX design , a UI/UX designer must develop, not all, but a few of these above-mentioned skills.
