The one most important piece of advice to give to anyone is: “Discover the real Self!”
All Lords, Spiritual Masters, Saints and great spiritual personalities in the world have emphasised on just one thing, and that is to ‘Know Thyself’; to arrive at the answer to the question, ‘Who am I?’
It is due to the ignorance of our true identity that we suffer in life.

The root cause of all the worries and the inner restlessness, misery, discontentment that we experience in life, is our false belief of, really “I am John (please insert your own name in place of John).”

John is only a name given to recognize you in this world, isn’t it? And you can change your name anytime, but that does not change you. So who are you then?
Many believe, “I am the body.”

On one hand, one says, “I am the body”, and on the other, he says, “This is my body”. Now, when you say, ‘this is my body’, it means you are the owner of the body, right? And the owner of object is obviously separate from the object; the two can never be one. So who are you?
Self Realization is an answer to the question, ‘Who am I?’

Self-Realization is when you realize that you are a Pure Soul and are separate from the body.
But just knowing it in words that ‘I am Pure Soul’ is not enough, it is important to function as the Pure Soul too. We are said to have realized the Self, when we experience the Pure Soul, by knowing its properties vis-à -vis the properties of the other elements.

We must know what is our function in this body, and who is the doer of the functions that are going on in this body. On what basis are the good and bad thoughts arising in our mind, and who is making these thoughts happen? So how do we go about knowing all of this?...

Only through the grace of a living Gnani Purush, can we discover the Self!!!
Self-Realization cannot be attained by one’s own efforts. One who knows the properties of both the entities alone can separate the two.
