What is goal setting and why should you use it? You are probably asking yourself this on a daily basis right? Your ability to set and achieve goals can lead you to wonderful places, allow us to be creative and increase our energy and focus. But how do you master goal setting and use it…

When you type in the word “goals” into any search engine, the answer will be something like "Establishing short- or long-term objectives, usually incorporating deadlines and quantifiable measures." While this is a good definition, it doesn't reveal the answer we need to set goals and then achieve these goals. I always look at football as an analogy for describing things in life and this article will help you understand the mindset of successful goal achievers.

There is a saying in football that goes – you are only as good as your last football match. I think there should be a saying in life that you are only as good as your belief, thoughts and habits. Channelled in the right direction, these ultimately lead us to great goals which lead us to our life purpose. You need to start thinking like an entrepreneur in order to become successful.

When I was in school, I grew up thinking that in order for me to become an entrepreneur I had to be a genius and a highly creative person, like Albert Einstein or Thomas Edison. These guys were insanely creative and will always be remembered. So I grew up thinking that I could never be an entrepreneur. The definitions of an entrepreneur in high school were always complicated. Business books are full of theory and sometimes they lose me. When I started to go to business seminars, their definitions were so simple and easy to understand that I could relate to them. So what’s the definition of an entrepreneur? Someone who solves problems for someone else and gets paid for it! Sounds simple, right? That’s because it is! Now can anyone be an entrepreneur? YES!

How do you start thinking like an entrepreneur? Think of yourself as a business owner all of the time, not as an employee. The latter, is a sure fire way to fail.
I know a lot of people that just do things so that they can add it to their CV’s or resumes!!! Yes it’s always nice to add things to your CV but it’s a bad mindset to get into. You shouldn't do a college course with the mentality to “add it to your CV”, you should do it because you want to add it to your life. You should do it because you want to become a CEO, a business owner or because it is your passion. Not simply to add it to your CV.

I spoke to someone recently and I mentioned some really cool projects I have coming up. They told me to “add it to my CV” The funny thing is, this never once crossed my mind. I can’t relate to that world any more. I do everything I am doing now for me!!! There are two types of people in this world – task orientated people and success orientated people. Task orientated people love being told what to do and their beliefs, habits and thoughts tell them that they need to add things to their CV so that someone else can boss them around for the rest of their life. Success orientated people view themselves as a business and they are the boss of themselves. Do they have a manager over them sometimes? Yes of course, but they aren't doing the work to keep the manager happy, they are doing the work to keep themselves happy!

Start thinking like an entrepreneur, developing their mindset, using their beliefs and thoughts to unlock your purpose! Do you think like an entrepreneur? Are you success orientated?

Hi my name is Gary Daly and thanks for reading my article.I am a licensed FIFA football agent and work in sales and marketing.

I have found that the skill to set and achieve goals is the single-most important thing that distinguishes successful people from the rest.

Only a small percentage of people set goals!

Those who don't set goals think that setting goals is a waste of their time. Or they mistakenly believe that they have goals ... when in fact, they have only dreams or wishes.

Still, others have goals ... but they don't have the mindset, skills or habits needed to actually achieve their goals.

Goals can transform your life. Peoples success boils down to one thing: The ability to set and achieve goals.
