Depression and anxiety are like twins of each other the common cause between them being bipolar disorder. The term mood disorders refers to the people`s emotional status imbalance. In short in bipolar disorder depressive episodes and elevated moods often co-occur. The energy levels are different in these two however depression is considered as low energy state and anxiety is analyzed as high energy state.

So it is important to recognize the symptoms of bipolar disorder on time and getting examined by the doctor. A support system and medical treatment will help to manage this disorder. Antidepressant medication could help such individuals. Medical research shows that this illness is associated with imbalances between certain chemicals in the brain. So medication can help to correct this imbalance. Mood Stabilizers can be used to correct the extreme mood swings related to the bipolar disorder.

Making the decision about which mood stabilizer is suitable for a certain patient depends upon the immune system which vary from person to person.
