Success is one of those words that doesn't really have a clear definition. In fact, many times, one person's success is another person's failure. So it's safe to say that success is a relative term. For some people success is fame, for others it's fortune and for some it's as simple as being able to spend less time at the office and more time with their family. However, one of the universal definitions for true success is doing something that you love. Many would agree that any task is more fun when you really love what you're doing.

Sure, you can read books and ask people about their own personal success, however, this is probably not the best approach. Individual success is really about as unique as each person. Success stories are like fingerprints, no two are alike. Sometimes, people measure their success by their paycheck or it is purely occupational, but in some cases their success is measured by how much time they get to spend with their family or how many times they laugh per day. In many cases, it can be helpful to have different levels of success in your life.

In order to realize when you're successful, you have to know when you've arrived at the front door of success. When you've arrived, this doesn't mean that you can give up and stop being successful because success and sustaining go hand in hand. When you hear people talking about others who are successful, you usually hear them exclaiming over how many years they've been able to continue their streak of success. If someone can't sustain, they aren't successful, they are merely a fad. So you have to find the correct balance that will allow you to achieve your goals without running yourself into the ground.

Success is not keeping up with the Joneses. Once you start competing with other people, you will lose sight of your goals and waste time. Instead of trying to look around and see what everyone else is doing, stay focused on your own life and concentrate on focusing your own goals. Even if you feel like your definition of success is not as wonderful as another person's definition, you have to be confident that your success is perfect for you. It may not be someone else's ideal, but if it works for you, then your mission is accomplished.

It is also important that you don't tear others down as you find your own path. If the only way you can make yourself look good is to make someone else look bad, then you aren't really accomplishing anything at all. If you find yourself competing with others in regards to success, you will feel really disappointed in a few years once you realize that you've wasted so much time trying to discredit the success of others. Remember that there's plenty of success for everyone, so there's no need to worry.

Many times, are dreams stay dreams, and they never transform into realities. Instead of always wishing and dreaming, the best way to be successful is to put action to your dreams and aspirations. Remember to stick to what makes you happy and you will be successful. The happier you are, the easier the rest of your life will be.
