Most of us indeed tend to chase temporary happiness that stems from the acquisition or experience of material possessions such as gadgets, money, social events, home comforts, and other tangible items or from the five senses.

The reason why people pursue temporary happiness is that not everyone realizes that they are running after material happiness and things that are temporary. And those who do are not aware that permanent, transcendental, everlasting happiness is even possible in this era. If people could recognize that material happiness and things are temporary and are guaranteed to be followed by unhappiness, then maybe some of us would seek more permanent solutions. And if everyone were aware that permanent, transcendental, everlasting happiness is possible, there would be many who would go for it!

It's a fact that the happiness we seek from material or temporary things is often short-lived and followed by unhappiness. Permanent happiness can never be derived from worldly things. So, where can we find permanent happiness in this world? Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan, an enlightened being, says,

Happiness lies with us only. [The] desire for experiencing interactive pleasure is because of the association with the ignorance (of the Self). The one who does not have such association, will ‘realize’ true happiness.”

Permanent, transcendental, and eternal happiness comes from within the Self, the Pure Soul. The Soul is an eternal element, the inherent nature of which is infinite bliss. It is full of infinite knowledge, infinite vision, and infinite energy. It is steady; it never wavers in any situation or with anyone.

When people experience the Soul and become one with this real Self of theirs, they get an experience of infinite, absolute bliss. This is true happiness as it is derived from the Soul, which is a permanent thing. The happiness experienced is not temporary nor dependent on any external or worldly factors, it is within the Soul's inherent nature.

However, one can discover that the Pure Soul, which resides in every living being, is their real Self and an abode of infinite bliss only after Self-Realisation.

So, is it possible to attain Self-Realization in today’s world?

Wouldn’t that mean renouncing the world and all worldly things, renouncing all the happiness that is present with me?

No, attaining Self-Realisation through Akram Vignan is a journey towards experiencing true bliss, which is made extremely easy as it is attained directly with the grace of Gnani, the Enlightened One! So, it is not tough at all. For details, you may visit https://www.dadabhagwan.org/

And until one makes it to the Gnani, the Enlightened One, and attains from Him the knowledge of their Pure Soul, one can make a positive strive towards helping or making a difference in the lives of others. When one uses their mind, speech, and body in the service of mankind, Nature rewards them with worldly happiness without having to ask for it. But while serving or giving, the inner intent of helping others selflessly should always be on our minds.

In addition to having a desire to help others, it is essential to constantly maintain the intention of not causing hurt to any living being, be it through our thoughts, words, or actions. We can experience inner peace and happiness in abundance by holding this pure intention. When we consciously try not to hurt others, we create a positive environment where others will not want to hurt us.

Helping others without hurting anyone helps us progress toward achieving lasting and true happiness.

Therefore, making a start by striving towards permanent, transcendental, everlasting happiness begins by using our mind, speech, and body to serve mankind as well as harnessing the intention of not hurting any living being. And attaining the knowledge of ‘who am I’ will lead one to eternal bliss of the Self. Happiness derived from the Pure Soul (the Self) is eternal and never followed by unhappiness. So, why wait? Start your journey towards true happiness today.

Author's Bio:

Ambalal M. Patel was a civil contractor by profession. In June 1958, spontaneous Self-Realization occurred within Ambalal M. Patel. From this point on, Ambalal became a Gnani Purush, and the Lord that manifested within him became known as Dada Bhagwan. A Gnani Purush is One who has realized the Self and is able to help others do the same. Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan used to go from town to town and country-to-country to give satsang (spiritual discourse) and impart the knowledge of the Self, as well as knowledge of harmonious worldly interactions to everyone who came to meet him. This spiritual science, known as Akram Vignan, is the step-less path to Self-realization.
