Do you know what your mission in life is?

Do you realise what your purpose in life is?

Do you have a vision for your life?

Some companies and organisations have a vision and mission statement. They do their best to get their staff to live by the vision or mission statement.

Your life is unique, and unlike a business or an organisation, your life does not have staff who are told to live by the vision or mission statement. There is one leader in your life, one staff member in your life, and one decision maker – YOU!

Let’s look at vision first. What is vision anyway? The Merriam Webster dictionary defines vision as “The act or power of imagination”. Do you have a vision for your life? Have you imagined what your future will bring? Jim Rohn said “You can add power to your future if your future is clear, and well designed”.
Does the vision for your life create a clear and well designed and well defined future?
One of the simplest ways to have a vision for your future is to simply define what it is that you want for yourself. Be as precise and clear as you can in defining what you want in your life and for your life in the future. This will allow you to create a vision for your life. Once you have got clarity on what you want in your life (the vision), set a timeframe on when you will achieve it. Now, I am not just referring to physical things that you want in your life, I am also referring to what you wish to do with your life (your work, your hobbies, your contribution to society). Ask yourself “What will it make of me once I begin to live my vision?”

What about your mission? The Merriam Webster dictionary defines mission as “A specific task with which a person or a group is charged.” What is the specific task for your life that you are in charge of? Do you have a mission in life that will serve you and others at the same time? Are you committed to changing an area of your life that will have a positive impact on you and on others? Please think about these questions, and design a mission for your life. Have you ever heard someone say “I am on a mission”? Well, are you on a mission to do something extraordinary with your life?

Finally, let’s look at purpose. In the context of this article, let’s refer to purpose as the ‘purpose of your life’. Do you have a clearly defined purpose in your life? If so, do you live your purpose with passion on a daily basis?
One of the simplest ways to define your purpose is this – make a list of what is important to you. If you have not done this exercise in the past, I will offer you some guidance. When I was a Life Coach, the first question that I would ask of any new client was “What is important to you, and what would you like to spend more time on?" The answers to these questions gave me an idea of what that client’s driving forces in life were. So, ask yourself these questions now, and write down the answers. Once you have got the answers written down, rank them in order of importance, and then pick your top five.

For example, my top five are – Speaking, Writing, Reading, Personal Development, Animal Rights.

Then, using your top five, define your purpose in life!
In my case, the purpose of my life that I defined was “My purpose is to lovingly and gratefully speak and write about personal development and animal rights”.

Please play around with this idea, and see what purpose statements you come up with.

I do sincerely request that you email me back with your purpose statement. Please do spend a minute in replying to me. I would love to read your response.

Once you have defined your purpose, put passion into it! Putting passion into any task makes it enjoyable and more productive.

What will you do to live your vision, mission, and purpose with passion?

I hope that you have gained a simple insight into creating a life with a vision, mission, and purpose.
