One of my most memorable moments from my childhood was Christmas! I remember getting all excited about the presents, parties, food, and family…and did I mention the presents! Every year, my parents would ask for my Christmas list. Sometimes I would be so excited, I would jump start my Christmas list in July! My wish list excited me and most of all, it motivated me. Because in order for me to get those things on my list, I had to demonstrate good behaviors, make good grades, etc. And every time I would even think to do something “naughty” I would glance over at my wish list.

Many of us in our childhood have created wish lists; and even still in our adulthood we continue to create wish lists. For instance, when you were younger like myself, you may have created a list for Santa, as well as a list for your birthday. In our adulthood, we create lists for a wedding, graduation, or baby shower registry. And I am pretty sure a lot of you currently have a wish list on Amazon *raises hand*.
Creating these lists help to keep us focus. And it also keeps the people who we want these items from, focused as well—giving them clear direction and understanding of what we desire.

Vision boards have a similar effect. A vision board is a tool used to help clarify, concentrate, and maintain focus on a specific life goal. It is a display of images that represent what you want to be, do, or have in your life—and it is used to help motivate you. Also, the purpose of a vision board is to activate the law of attraction to begin to pull things from your external environment that will enable you to realize your dream. What exactly is the law of attraction? The law of attraction states that we attract into our lives anything that we give attention to, regardless whether it be positive or negative.
The mind creates what you hold in it, providing you have cleared any conflicting subconscious blocks. Try some clearing techniques to clear your negative emotions. Change your way of thinking and create affirmations that are believable to you. For example, growing up I was always told, “Money doesn’t grow on trees.” I now say “Money consistently flows to me from numerous sources. My life is now filled with prosperity and abundance.”
Raise your awareness and poster your affirmations onto your vision board.
By creating the vision board, we put out to the universe positive energy to help bring into manifestation our deepest desires and wishes.

What you will need: Poster board, scissors, markers, magazines, glue, and good intentions.
First before beginning a vision board, you will need to figure out what your goal/intent will be. Now, don’t go kidding yourself with your goals—be realistic. Once you have decided your goal—sit and meditate on the intent. Visualize the images in your mind and clearly create your vision.

Go through magazines and cut out images and words you would like to include in your vision board. Each picture should evoke a positive emotional response from you. Lay the pictures and words out to get a sense of how the board should be laid out. For instance, you might assign a theme to each corner of the board (health, job, spirituality, relationships, etc.) Or it may just be that the images want to go all over the place.

Glue the images and words onto the board. And include a GORGEOUS picture of yourself as well, because you are the main feature and star! Hang the board in a noticeable place where you can see it often. Feel free to add on more images and words as time goes on, if necessary.

Vision boards are an important tool and road map on your journey toward personal success. Decide what it is that you want in your life. And then commit yourself towards making that first step of creating your vision board and activating the law of attraction to pull your dreams into reality. Let me quickly interject, I don’t want anyone to get the idea that if they create a poster/board and visualize success, then it will happen out of the clear blue. If only life were that easy! If you expect anything to happen, you have to MAKE it happen. And how do we make things happen? ACTION. The secret to every success in life is vision AND action!
Do not downplay and/or discount your achievements. Always remember, as you achieve goals, to be grateful and celebrate your success—whether they be small or great. This will result in an increase in your overall happiness.
