Using Tunnel-Vision for Your Business Self Image

When you start a new business, what kind of self-image do you have? Do you see yourself as just starting out---a newbie? Or do you see yourself as already successfully running a thriving business? Most people would have to admit to the first scenario.

But if you can shift your self-image to the second one, the success of your business will come more swiftly. How do you do this?

You must develop tunnel-vision as far as your new venture is concerned. By tunnel-vision, I mean creating an image of yourself as successful and staying focused on that image, no matter what. Whenever the old image rises up, quickly change it to the new image.

This tunnel-vision does several things.

1) It creates new neural-pathways in the brain that will create a new habit of success-oriented thought. Like a well-worn path in the woods, if you start using a new one the old one fades away from disuse. This is what happens in your brain when you do something repeatedly.

So focusing on an image of yourself as a great success will create a new pathway in your brain. Any past impressions to the contrary will fade out as you stop thinking of yourself as unsuccessful. The process of creating new neural-pathways sidesteps any past influences that might have been obstacles to your success and opens up your successful future.

2) Another thing that tunnel-vision does is that it attracts that desire of a successful business to you much faster because the brain cannot distinguish the difference between what is imagined and what is real. This has been documented for years by many scientists and therapists. And that's why what you think about yourself is so important. Your brain just works on what you are imagining and putting your attention on.

If you take a few minutes every day to imagine yourself as a successful business owner, the brain will act as if you already were a successful business owner. It will begin to attract people, situations, and opportunities to you that will create your success.

3) Imagining yourself as successful also shifts your vibration that you are putting out to those you come in contact with. Maybe you have noticed how some people just exude success? Part of it is the vibration or energy that is naturally sent out like a radio wave from every one of us. So your success vibration will be picked up by others and they will naturally be attracted to you. After all, it's only natural to want to be around and do business with someone who you think is already successful.

This success vibration will then naturally attract more business to you until you really are successful. Some have called this "fake it til you make it" but I believe that you can use your imagination without being a fake. Besides, it's just an image that you are cultivating and that can be very genuine.
