I find that I am often talking about grounding, and the importance of being grounded - and talk and write comparatively little about the importance of a connection with the heavens, the divine, God - whatever term you use, or whatever resonates with you.
I think one of the main reasons I talk about the earth so much more is because it is clear to me that that is more the energy that I have been lacking, and which I have most recently needed to focus on. I see this a lot with the clients I work with - often, we have lost our connection with the nurturing earth energy, and need to reconnect to that in order to feel safe in this world.
I know for me when I was most ill, I was a practising Buddhist and meditated a lot. I would get a lot of consolation and actually sometimes intense physical bliss and a sense of peace from meditating and talking with others on a similar spiritual journey. At the time, this was very healing for me. Nowadays, from an energetic perspective, I would say that the connection I was making with the divine was bringing in high, bright, pure energy which was able to "melt" away some of the energetic blocks that were keeping me stuck in fatigue and illness. I remember one of my meditation teachers confirming that this type of connection with heavenly energy is very healing.
Many of the clients I work with also seem to have a very natural and strong connection with the divine. (If you don't think this is you, it may be the case that you're just so used to it, that you don't even think about it - it is just a part of you. Or you may have the connection, and be unable to fully bring it into your being and obtain all the healing benefits of it.)
Sometimes it is the case (and I know it was for me both as child and when I was ill - in differing ways) that we can love being in that "blissed out" space so much that we actually detach from the world a bit. As a child, I used to go on imaginary journeys a lot - and I know that sometimes it was to escape from a place in my "real" life where I didn't really want to be. And the same when I was an adult suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - of course I would choose to be in a blissful, happy space rather than face the realities of my severely limited life.
I believe that energy work both in the form of hands on or distance healing, and the Emotional Freedom Technique have really helped me to establish what I would call a more healthy connection with the divine, and also to allow in that beautiful divine energy to a much greater extent.
Energy work is in a way a journey back home to your true self. Releasing layers of stuck emotions and trauma from the energy field leads to finding out who you are at your core without all the accumulated "conditioning" from the past. When we are more in touch with that core of who we truly are, we are of course more in touch with the divine.
As I said earlier, it is often the case that we are unable to fully let in the natural connection we feel with the divine because of thoughts and feelings of unworthiness and not being good enough. Energy healing also works directly on releasing these types of emotions, which are so common in today's society - so that we can become much more sure of our own worth and so be unafraid to allow in the intensity of that heavenly energy - and share it with others.
And when this is combined with a healthy connection to earth energy, we have a balanced human being who is able to "earth" that beautiful spiritual connection.
