As my chapter in Total Leadership for Men and Women says, “We are the architects of our own lives. What are we building? How high do we want to go?” What are we creating on a daily basis?

As speakers and writers, we are all leaders, influencers and motivators by what we share with others, (whether written, spoken or through music). We have the power to help heal, guide and inspire others to set a new course in life. We can equip them to rise to greater heights and instill power, passion and purpose into them…the kind that will then overflow outwardly to the masses. We lead by example. What kind of example are we?

As authors and speakers, we can set a mental and emotional atmosphere that promotes the greater good. We can write books, blogs and music that heals, brings joy, entertains, and gives us renewed energy. We can lead in profound ways with powerful, lasting effects, forever etched in their minds, influencing attitudes, motives, actions and lifestyles — like Martin Luther King did in his “I have a dream” speech. How awesome is that!!??

There are some who choose to sing, write, speak or blog to incite anxiety, demoralize or destroy the value systems that are so critical to the success of our country, careers and well-being. Those of us with have chosen to use our gifts and talents to lead individuals, corporations, teenagers, and the world in general, to experience greater success and fulfillment, enjoy stress-releasing humor, and teach life-changing skills that can surely last a lifetime.

As leaders who speak, write and entertain, we must be visionaries who can influence individuals to “do the right thing.” We must act out of a high sense of integrity, using wisdom in our decision making, taking into consideration how our choices affect those around us. We may not always be popular but we still act for the greater good, and hold our ground when necessary. We have the ability to demonstrate, relate, inspire, motivate, praise, affirm and transform lives and circumstances of others.

We all have the opportunity to be effective leaders every day, in whatever capacity the day calls for, whether at home or working in the world that surrounds us.

Total Leadership for Men and Women has given 16 of us from various parts of the US and the world an opportunity to dig deep into our own souls and plant seeds from years of experience into the minds and lives of our readers. It is a powerful guide in how to have better business relationships, gain skills to enable them to be strong and effective leaders, be accountable and walk in the utmost integrity.

As Jack Welch, former CEO and Chairman of General Electric once said, “The world will belong to passionate, driven leaders… people who not only have enormous amounts of energy, but who can energize those whom they lead.”

It’s a wonderful privilege to be a speaker, author, publisher or promoter…one who can make an indelible mark on the lives of so many. There is so much power in the pen and the tongue.

You have the power to light up your world and everyone’s around you! Let's speak, write and sing until your journey is done!
