Top 5 Signs Your Relationship Is in Trouble
Written by Brooke Alexandria
Most of the time, you can tell when your relationship has taken a turn for the worse. But sometimes we are caught completely off guard or we don't allow ourselves to see the signs that are right in front of us. If you're having doubts or worries about your relationship, look for these five tell-tale signs that your relationship is in trouble.
1. You argue more. If you feel like you and your significant other are arguing more about trivial things, then it is probably because one or both of you is unhappy with the relationship. Arguments are normal for any relationship but they should not occur every day or be about who is going to take the trash out. In a healthy relationship, you should never have a full-blown argument for seemingly no reason. Furthermore, if there is not even an attempt at an apology from either of you, chances are your relationship will not last. Ultimately, it's up to you to determine whether your arguments are precursors to a breakup.
2. Your partner loses not interested. Elie Wiesel once said that "the opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference." If your partner seems to no longer be interested in your life, if he or she responds to you with one word sentences or doesn't respond at all because he or she would rather watch TV, then your relationship may be having problems. Vice versa, if you find yourself uninterested in what your partner has to say, you may want to think about where your relationship is going.
3. Your partner lies to you. Trust is one of the most important things in a relationship. If you don't trust one another, there is little hope of the relationship surviving. If you catch your partner lying to you or even catch yourself lying to your partner, you are not allowing much room for trust or even really allowing yourselves to truly get to know each other.
4. Your partner doesn't touch you. The lack of physical contact is a definite sign that something is up. Little displays of affection are really what make a relationship grow. It doesn't have to be anything big or even anything that other people would notice. It's a hug, a kiss on the forehead, a pat on the back, holding hands. When these little actions cease for a long period of time, your partner may be feeling differently toward you and your relationship.
5. You don't have fun together. Fun is extremely important to a relationship, but people sometimes forget about it. Your significant other should be a friend, someone that you can have fun with. If you can't find activities that you both enjoy or if it seems like one person always has to sacrifice what they want to do, you may be in trouble. Granted, not everything you do together will be fun, but there should be some mutual excitement in your life together.
