As a designer, your job is to create fascinating designs which will not only sell but will also make your clients come back to you with more assignments. Your goal is to become the ultimate and the most desired designer be it for your company or if you are a freelancer. However, to create compelling artworks you have to keep yourself updated with latest design trends and create something entirely new and attractive. With the expansion of IT and printing industry, graphics designing has become a lucrative career. However, with evolving tools and technologies there is tight competition in the market.

Here we will be discussing the various tips and tricks that you as a graphics designer must know to create fascinating designs. But before that, you must be well versed in the fundamentals which can be found in a graphic design course which will help you to become a better designer.

1.Use of fonts – While creating texts over an image you must use easy to read fonts for easy viewing. The font must also match the design. In many times we see that though the design is good, the font over it is not matching with the overall design.

2.Applying scaling – As a designer, you must apply scale to type, shapes and compositional features that require proportionate emphasis. Also, the use of appropriate colours is necessary to enhance the typefaces.

3.Use of spacing – For proper placement of text which takes up too much space, you must use letter spacing to fill the dead space.

4. Adjusting colour and contrast – Use colours wisely. 1-3 primary colour scheme and secondary colours that contrast each other are best for readability. Also, pump up the contrast by adjusting the brightness of the background image so that it makes the design clear and easy to read.

5.Alignment – Aligning an object or a set of objects or texts over a background image is one of the most difficult tasks and it takes time to master the art. However, a quick tip when creating bold headings is to give a margin line before the text to make it more attractive.

6.Simplicity – The simple a design is, the better. Most clients don’t like unnecessary complex designs or previews. Hence when designing keep in mind that the client understands the message in it. A graphic design course generally comprises of a lot of design patterns and fundamental concepts which help a designer in creating simple but elegant designs.

7.Using hierarchy – To make a design more appealing you should use hierarchy. This is especially useful if you want to create a compelling text. In a hierarchy, the font below a bold text should be smaller and will be of an opposite colour.

8.Brighten up the designs – Though it depends on the design that you are making, sometimes it works if you brighten up the image to create an impact. However, you must ensure that the colours don’t bleed.

There are numerous tips and tricks to create beautiful designs for clients. All of these cannot be mentioned in a single write up. But, even before you start to apply the tricks you must pursue the graphic design course which will teach you the processes to create good designs quickly and efficiently.
