Three Big Horoscope Whistles,or Personality Typing

There are three big horoscope whistles that help create a quick personality picture. Most people have heard of their sun sign, and yes the Sun sign can help create an idea of personality type. But at best it represents only one third of an ideal method. I share this information because I am so tired of being pressed by people about their Sun Sign. By itself a Sun Sign just doesn’t tell us too much.

That idea of “typing” suggests that one's birth chart can give some idea of personality. And yes actually, the birth chart can be an excellent tool to capture a general idea of personality type. By the way, having a “type” is not offensive. Having some understanding of an individuals personality does not suggest that you have any real grasp of the issues or concerns that person is experiencing in their life. But if you have an understanding of “type” you may however have a means to communicate to the individual in a more efficient, direct and useful manner.

In addition to the Sun Sign it can also be useful to understand the Moon sign. The Moon sign will indicate the major need structure that is driving the individual’s life. For example an Aries Moon, suggests that the individual has a need to be important. But what if that person also has a Virgo Sun Sign? Now we see a person that not only has a need to be confident and self assured, but their behavior will be directed to refining the personality and have astute effect on any task that person becomes involved in.

Let’s take an other example, A Cancer Sun and a Libra Moon. This individual has energy for emotional security, but also a driving need to be appreciated by others. That knowledge can suggest a lot about the individuals behavior, behavior that one can now better understand. This description and all the other Sun and Moon combinations create 144 personality possibilities. I like the idea of 144 combinations compared to 12. There is of course so much more to Astrology than just defining personality. And it does help one get a better grasp on their personality, what motivates behavior. Specifically, it is also helpful to understand the personality of someone that is becoming important in one’s life.

So above all the possibilities, by having a grasp of personality type one can easily understand one’s personality as well as the personality of someone of relational importance. Also “type” is highly suggestive of career success. All types do not fit all careers. Can you imagine a home buddy “Cancer” personality thriving as a police person?

The third prong, or the third whistle of easy horoscope personality type identification is the Ascendant Sign. The Ascendant sign easily defines the social persona that most easily encapsulates the public personality. That personality that meets and greets others in social settings.

For example, I have a Virgo Ascendant. In work and social situations people perceive me as an individual that is practical and organized. But a deeper view would help appreciate that my Cancer Sun suggests a need for emotional security, and within that desire for emotional security is a need to have my opinion heard as depicted through my horoscope Moon placed in Sagittarius. So together the Ascendant Sign, the Sun Sign and the Moon sign create a useful description of personality type.

A much more comprehensive understanding of personality is gained through this trio. Especially if we appreciate that these three type indicators also relate to three different areas of focus. The Sun suggests motivational energy behind personality; the Moon suggests the underlying need structure of the personality; and the Ascendant Sign suggests the behavior necessary for the personality to have social success. Together creating a comprehensive view of the individuals approach to life situations.

We can however view this from a different psychological perspective. The father figure historically suggests the personality image or icon type that must work with the social structures outside the home. Structures or organizations that are beyond the scope, size and purpose of the home. The maternal image suggested those images related to the homestead. Those images have in so many ways changed, yet we can retain those concepts to differentiate between the home world and larger social organizations. So we can also suggest that within the horoscope the Sun energy reflects larger social influences; the Moon suggests energy related to the home and more personal needs, but that the Ascendant Sign indicates those resources necessary to bridge the great differences and distances between the home and heart and the external world. Thus elevating this study of “type” to a methodology for personality to manifest successfully within society. On the most basic level suggesting career success.

Just think, with a simple understanding of these three very easy to identify horoscope elements, we can quickly suggest information that can make career decisions become so much less stressful. Actually quite pleasant.
