Dear friend, there are those of us who see the glass as half-full while others see it as half-empty. How we choose to determine the first from the second is up to our attitude and belief system. The choice of how we view our lives in general is totally up to us. Our thoughts, beliefs and attitudes can be what we want them to be - that is part of our free will as humans.

If you are the kind who is quick to be on the pessimistic side, the key is to keep a positive attitude to help improve your view and in turn, your situation.

We can choose to focus on all the negative aspects and worry and stress ourselves relentlessly, and make poor choices due to pressures and/or feelings of powerlessness – or – we can choose to focus on the positive aspects, the most suitable outcome possible, the blessings in disguise that come with change and new situations. Look upon the situation as one you are capable of learning from in a positive way.

We tend to make our own, often small issues appear so big and daunting that they can easily dominate our behaviour. At times it’s easy to resent what life has served us and it becomes easy to focus on what we don’t have or feel we lack, or what we can’t do or feel we can’t possibly achieve. This attitude brings us down and deflates and depletes our energy. It is better to focus on what we DO have and what we CAN do - and ultimately, to feel gratitude for all that is.

We can’t always choose what happens in life, but we can choose to respond in either a negative, fearful way, or a loving, accepting way. The attitude you choose to take determines the theme/s of your life on a day to day basis.

We all have challenges and obstacles to face, experience and learn from. People who have achieved great things despite overwhelming obstacles can inspire us to confront and accept ourselves just as we are. They enable us to see that despite our flaws we are beautiful and perfect beings capable of much more than we can possibly imagine. When we grasp the knowledge that life is a blessing come what may, no matter how hard it may seem at times, and when we choose to view each experience as a positive learning experience, we honour ourselves and our lives.

My friend be confident today. Tackle a challenge. Say “yes, I can.” Believe in yourself. Move beyond doubts. Focus on developing your positive attitude today. You can Do It!

Until next time, make this a week one in which you are living your life to the fullest.

With appreciation and gratitude
