Energy medicine principles evolved from ancient time, either from intuitive knowledge or revelations of inspired men. Energy medicines continued to evolve during the early stages of Western medicine with its emphasis on the visible, physical, and material. During that period of time, the Newtonian view of the world prevailed not only with the physicists, but also with the physicians. It took a few decades for the import of Einstein’s vision and demonstrations to go beyond the realm of his immediate audience of mathematicians and advanced physicists; and to reach into biology, physiology, and medicine in general. An intellectual revolution was initiated in the early to middle twentieth century with the discoveries that led to quantum physics—the science of sub-atomic particles. Yet, because of its far-fetched implications relative to matter and, by extension, to the body, the revolution in physics was not readily embraced by the medical world. But, enough credible and courageous scientists and medical doctors saw the significance of the quantum vision to the field of medicine, even when they were mindful of the political minefield they were stepping on. They were inspired by the implications of modern discoveries in support of the ancient art of energy healing. They were motivated to apply their scientific minds to experimentations that would prove the energetic premises, as well as to enhance the knowledge of what is now often called Vibrational Medicine.
Now that we know that matter is actually energy, it follows that the body is essentially energy. As this notion is getting more scientific attention and modern technology is being used to further investigate the energetic aspects of the body, it is confirmed that the physical body is also surrounded by an energy field. And, energetic tools have a healing effect both on the body and its energetic field. Modern equipment can measure subtle energies in the body and deliver therapeutic vibrations that have a positive effect.
The physical body is surrounded by an energetic envelope referred to as the ethereal, or etheric, field. Its existence was scientifically proven by Harold Burr Ph.D. (1889-1973) of Yale University. It is thought of as the energetic blueprint that guides the multiplying and specializing cells of the embryo, then of the fetus, to their particular position and in their proper inter-relationship. Later, in the baby and then in the adult, it dictates physiological functions. All the chakras (major energetic centers see illustration on page 65) and the related system of nadis (energetic channels in Ayurveda), as well as the TCM meridians extend from the physical body into the etheric body and interconnect the two. That is why energetic, or vibrational, tools are often used on the field surrounding the body, for the sake of balancing the physical body. This is achievable with the PHYTO 5™ vibrational serums (Phyt’Ether), as well as with the Chromapuncteur™.
Beyond the ethereal field, there are three others. The astral field is the seat of our emotions that can also be thought of as energies. Their nature—be they positive emotions (such as love and gratitude) or negative ones (such as fear and anger)—have a direct influence on our health, particularly over an extended period of time. That is the reason why Traditional Chinese Medicine classifies all emotions according to the Five Elements and notes the effect they have on each elemental energy and on the corresponding pair of organs.
Less obvious, but no less real, is the effect of our thoughts, both on our emotions and our physical body. They form the next surrounding energetic body, the mental field. That is why the nature of the thoughts we entertain affects all aspects of our lives. Therein resides the potency of positive thinking, and in general, of any positive attitude.
The last envelope is the causal body. It is made of the highest energetic substance. It is the seat of our spirituality, of our Higher Self. Absent a spiritual awareness and attunement, instead of being fed from the causal body to the mental; from the mental to the astral; from the astral to the etheric and finally to the physical, we actually, and improperly, operate in reverse. Everything is initiated by our body reactions that we take not as consequences, but as cause. The body and mind generate feelings and thoughts that, absent the orderly influence of spirit, run amok like puppies without supervision.
In his book, Vibrational Medicine, published in 1988, Richard Gerber, M.D. States: “The spiritual dimension is the energetic basis of all life, because it is the energy of spirit that animates the physical framework.” He clearly shows us that there is a causal hierarchy from higher to lower frequencies. When understood and accepted, greater harmony naturally follows. Conversely, in our ignorance of this principle, we operate as if against the current. Everything is more difficult, and the results less than harmonious.
In closing, and in all fairness to Einstein, although he initiated a movement that went well beyond his own focus, we cannot say that he had the view of the body we attribute to the revolution that he helped to launch. But, his name is symbolically associated with a new way of thinking that was put into sharper focus by scientific luminaries in the quantum field, such as Neils Bohrs (1885 - 1962).
