The ladder to success needs to be a dedicated project if you want to reach the goals you desire. Don’t expect to just sit back and hop your goals can be reached without any effort on your part. It is not likely to happen.
Many people are lazy about setting goals for themselves. They either believe it is too much of an effort to do it or don’t know the proper procedures to developing a well-defined plan.
I wasn’t really sure myself how you go about developing a well-defined goal plan until I met someone who taught me how. It just so happened that this person contacted me about investing in one of his goal development programs.
How he got my name I am not sure at this time but I was definitely interested in learning how to set goals. Because of my dissatisfaction with my job I was ready for some other career than the one I was in.
However I wasn’t sure what procedures I needed to make a change in my career but when this gentleman explained what his program could do for me I was interested in listening.
At this point in my life at the age of 42 years I had now spent about 20 years in the family business. After a two year hitch in the U.S. Army, recently married and a new baby on the way I was looking for a more secure future.
There were times in my earlier like when I was excited about my involvement in the family business. But as the years progresses I was becoming more dissatisfied with it.
As of floral designer the everyday stress of standing behind a counter arranging floral pieces was beginning to affect my physical and mental condition.
The inadequate compensation and long hours were also a great concern of mine and I felt I needed some other career instead of the one I was in now.
I began to realize that this goal development plan I was being offered might be the answer to my problem. But because of the expense of it I didn’t believe I could afford it at this time.
The salesman finally made me an offer where I could pay for it in installments so I took him up on it and bought the program. I was also offered to be one of his salesmen to sell it also.
After working out a plan with my dad to work part time in the family business and sell the goals program too I began making calls on prospects with the salesman training me how to do it.
After taking on this job for a few months I hadn’t sold even one program or really didn’t stirred up one interest about it. This experience wasn’t successful but my interest in being a salesman did still interest me.
With the help of this salesman he suggested I give up his idea of working for him and send out resumes to companies wanting salesmen. He also recommended that I continue to listen to his program regularly to keep me motivated and excited about a new career.
Eventually I got an offer from one of my resumes was hired and started selling a product to manufacturing companies for a draw against commission. I had now left the family business and was hoping this job was going to produce enough income to support me and my family. It was an adequate income but still not as much as I had hoped for. Eventually I decided to quit this job one day when I had a dispute with my supervisor about getting my pay check.
This sales experience did increase my enthusiasm for a career in sales so once again I sent out resumes to companies looking for salesmen. Before too long I got an offer to meet someone for an interview.
The interview went extremely well and I was hired on the spot to be one of their salesmen where I eventually spent 20 years with them. During that time I eventually became a sales supervisor with a staff of salesmen.
At one time during my pursuit of a change in career I had developed an eight step goal plan. It was this plan that eventually helped me achieve a sales career that I desired. I even shared this plan with my sales staff and it helped them establish some well respective sales goals for the company.
I have climbed the ladder of success even more times since my sales career. Even in retirement I have still used it to achieve goals I desire. I now offer this plan for free on my website at: http://www.sonnyjulius.com. Go there now to get yours.
