How many times have you said to yourself, “this will be the time I actually stick with a workout routine?” But then you find yourself falling off track after only a few weeks. Why do you think you’ve struggled with exercise time and again? If you’re like most people you’ll be quick to blame yourself for a lack of discipline or some other reason. But the reality is your problem was likely caused by simply having the wrong strategy going in. When just starting out, exercising on your own either at home or in a gym is usually a recipe for poor results and a short-lived program. Let’s be honest here, it’s the truth. The majority of home fitness equipment purchased by new exercisers ends up being a clothes rack in a matter of weeks. Big gyms and health clubs are filled with membership rosters where maybe a third of the people even use the facility. Home workout DVD’s are attempted for a week or two then get shelved, and the list goes on. Without accountability and structure it’s easy to make excuses to yourself and fall back into old habits. So what you missed a workout, who is going to notice? When you’re by yourself, nobody. But then one missed workout turns into two, three, and before you know it you’re not working out at all. There’s also the issue of do you really know the best exercises to do to see the results you’re looking for? Do you know how to do them correctly? Do you know how to change things up with your workouts so you don’t hit a plateau? You get the point. Instead of starting out on an exercise routine all on your own, a better strategy is to work with a fitness coach in a program where you’ll have accountability and structure. Invest in your success by developing new habits with the support of others. Learn the best exercises to do and how to do them correctly. By doing this you’ll be laying a foundation where you can workout on your own one day. There are lots of ways to receive fitness coaching (one-on-one or in a group) and it doesn’t have to be that expensive. Compared to the frustration of not seeing results and the pain of failed attempts, you’ll be glad you made the initial investment.

For many, this is why exercise has always been more than fitness; it’s therapy through motion. But not all movement heals. Some styles exhaust, others distract. True healing often begins in the slow, intentional kind, the kind that lets the body lead and the mind follow.rnThat’s where precision-based training, such as re
