THE AWAKENING SOUL OF SOUTH AFRICA
ACCEPTANCE SPEECH - AREA GOVERNOR D3, DISTRICT 74 – 2009/2010

PART I: THE VISION

Dr Joseph Busby from the Sun Centre School of Esoteric Philosophy in Somerset West, in a channeled transmission in 1985 said:

“A great light is radiating here and now over South Africa […]

Here, there and everywhere, people are responding to the call of the soul to raise their consciousness and come up higher.

[…] Africa is destined to ride the wave of testing and prove herself to be triumphant.
The Soul of the People of South Africa will arise to heights o achievement and fulfillment beyond the wildest dreams of its most enlightened sons and daughters.
No matter what the current situation, this land, this corner of the African continent is destined to shine forth like a multi-faceted diamond of truth radiant in promise for all its people.

Press on, O soul of my people, your goal is high and noble, your destiny great.

[…] Let not your hearts be troubled – you are stronger than you think, your souls are greater than your personalities.
There is no time for sleep, no time for waiting, no room for lethargy and no need for procrastination.
Your time in eternity has come.

Arise now, O stirring soul –
Awake, my people of South Africa – AWAKE!”

PART II: THE HISTORY

I must tell you: I am a Soul Coach and a perpetual student of metaphysics. I live in “The Matrix”… in a world of karmic debts and soul contracts.

And in this “psycho” way of seeing the world (as a fellow toastmaster put it once) everything happens according to a plan, nothing happens by chance.

In 2004, after living 17 years in the UK, Spirit said: “Pack up, you are going”. I told my father that “I was going to the adventure” and he thought I meant going to the National Parks to see wild animals!

I arrived at South Africa in July 2005. After a 1st year not for the faint of heart, I received new instructions in May 2006: “Look for Toastmasters in the internet and join a club”. I found 3 clubs near where I live, I contacted them and I joined the first one that answered my email: Peninsula. Toastmasters became my soul family and the one and only reason why I am still today in South Africa.

In October 2006 my baby was born. I took 8 months off and struggled to come back. But two years if intense hard work later on, in January 2009, the voice again: “We want you to bring a new dimension to Toastmasters International”.

Shocking!

But since this seemed such an outrageous statement, I made a note and went on with my Toastmasters training.
By what I can describe as a twist of fate, in March this year Pinelands Club Coach and later on President. Then Peninsula’s President.

Next I was elected Area Governor. According to Spirit: “Because Cape Town is ready”.

With the shocking realization of the responsibility I had taken on, I went into a 10 day stupor. I sat on my sofa, knitted for hours and drunk warm horlicks trying to find some comfort.

But at the end of this void, I felt what I think a butterfly must feel when it comes out of the darkness and silence of the cocoon: transformed. Suddenly I felt the energy, the motivation, the inspiration and the inner force to do what was coming next.

PART III: TOASTMASTERS AREA D3

There is a society out there living like islands, disconnected from their purpose, their soul identities and their capability to ex-press themselves. Businesses and organizations in need of leaders of strength, charisma and integrity. Schools and Universities in need of sharing their knowledge and discoveries in a way that others can understand and support.

There are also new generations arriving at the planet saying to the older generations (all of us!): “Eh! We know a better way of doing things, and it is not through competition and through scavenging the earth; it is about regeneration and co-operation”.

These are our children and our children’s children.

We Toastmasters, at some level, have chosen to develop ourselves in the area of communication and leadership. In the process of achieving our Toastmasters goals, we learn who we are, what we have to offer the world and how to offer it.

By communication I don’t mean it in the usual sense of transmitting ideas but, like the Promethean organization describes it, as the essence of life.

Carolyne Myss PhD describes communication in her book “Sacred Contracts” as: “Self-expression or specialization or discovering our voice among others. How we represent ourselves through communication, honor and integrity, which are related to our sense of self-esteem and personal power. How we direct our energy into the world. How we put it into motion. How we engage with the laws of magnetic attraction”.

By leadership, Carolyne Myss says: “As we develop and ex-press our power, we grow and become drawn to paths of service with global consequences. An attitude that says that anything is possible: a person who thinks in global terms and sees the possibilities for positive change against impossible odds and that each person can become a force for the transformation of the whole of humanity”

The goal is huge. The vision is compelling. But sometimes we came across barriers to our progress. In words of Carolyne Myss:

“MOST OF THE MOUNTAINS WE DEAL WITH ARE
EVERYDAY CHALLENGES OR INVISIBLE FORCES, LIKE ATTITUDES”

We, Toastmasters clubs of Area D3, are privileged to be in the centre of Cape Town: a place in the world where most people only dream to come to live; a place of such high energy created by Table Mountain, a natural huge electromagnetic vortex, presiding over, protecting the City. And at the other side, the sea, with its ongoing renewal of energy created by the movement of its ebbs and tides.

PART IV: THE BEACON OF LIGHT

Today I want to talk to you about 5 clubs, 5 very different groups of people, at some level disconnected from each other, not realising that there is a bigger picture that you can be part of, if you choose to.

If one club can make a mark within the very important area that is Cape Town area, what strength would this have multiplied by 5!?

Because we have the people, the vehicle, the structure, the organization.

And we also have the program, a program that, when we follow it without cutting corners, throwing ourselves into it, and allowing ourselves time to assimilate the growth, we undertake, in the words of Isha Lerner in her Triple Goddess Tarot: “a process of healing and transformation” that, as it happened to me, can spark the clarity to follow our destiny.

A destiny that Isha Lerner says “longs to be fulfilled” and we become a ”Beacon of Light” as we ”Filter life through the Heart”.

I could have so easily dismissed this voice as inconvenient and unreasonable.

But I know that the time is now. The time of preparation is over and now it is the time for action.

So I would like to call to you, Toastmasters members of Area D3, to work for this vision… TOGETHER, because we can’t do it alone.

Destiny has somehow brought us together.

Let’s claim our place in South African history:
Society builders, helping create a bridge between the old earth
and that fit for the new generations.
