When I reflect back at the times in my life when I achieved my goals and dreams with the greatest ease I realize that these were times when I wasn’t attached to or trying to control a particular outcome.

I remember following my heart and moving out to the great, wild west in Montana, buying my first home as a young single woman (I had thought for years that it wasn’t possible because I believed I didn’t have enough money), paying off over $43,000 of credit card debt, meeting my soon-to-be husband for the first time, following my desire to start my own business and adopting our son. At the time I didn’t really understand what being detached from the outcome meant. I was just taking action towards my inner inspirations and dreams.

However, when I started my own coaching business I was anything but detached! To me it was an act of survival, a matter of life and death. And literally it was. Both my husband and I started our businesses at the same time so we didn’t have the security of a steady paycheck.

For the first many years I was driven, anxious and stressed out. Even though I knew in my heart of hearts that I was doing the right thing for both my self and the world.

I had a breakthrough when I realized that I was capable of achieving goals and creating “miracles” in other aspects of my life. That must mean that I was capable of creating them in my business as well. “What’s the difference?” I wondered. I realized that I wasn’t experiencing the same driven and forceful energy in my personal life. In other words I was being detached when I took action towards achieving my dreams in my personal life.

Today’s Reminder...

* I invite you to print this article off and read this section out loud to yourself as a reminder for how you can create a powerful breakthrough for yourself in your business today.

Today I will remember that I really can’t force or “make anything happen” in my business. If I really can’t control the outcomes, what is the point in creating inner turmoil? I can’t “make” prospects hire me, I can’t “guarantee” that I’ll be able to achieve my desired income goals, or that all my marketing efforts will turn out exactly the way I want them to.

Ironically in the realization that I can’t force any of my desired results lays my greatest freedom. I can relax mentally and begin to really enjoy the process of growing my business – even if it means that I might currently be struggling financially.

When I relax and let go that is when inspiration will come to me and I’ll be led to some new insight that will put me in touch with just the right person or incident that will lead me to the breakthrough I’m seeking.

By letting it go, it all gets done. The world is won by those who let it go. But when you try and try the world is beyond the winning. - Lao-Tzu
