Winter StormEat Warm Foods
Cold air is a health risk. You can keep your family warm and help everyone regulate their body temperature by feeding them warm meals. Spicy foods and soups are some of the best foods to eat when the weather outside is cold. You can also drink warm beverages such as tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

Put Layers on the Bed

You likely put on layers of clothes before you go outside in the cold weather. It is just as important for you to put layers of bedding on your bed. Layers of bedding will help everyone stay warm at night.

Use the Sun

You can use the natural sunlight to keep you and your family warm in the winter months. You can keep the curtains and blinds open during the day to let the sunlight in. Make sure that you keep the curtains and blinds closed at night to keep the cold air out.

Get Replacement Windows

Old windows can cause warm air to leak outside of your home. They can also make it easier for the cold air to get in your home. This can become deadly in subzero temperatures. It also becomes expensive if you are blasting the heat and it’s all leaking. The sudden changes from hot forced heat and chills from a leaky window can also lead to sickness.

Replacement windows will also help you save money on your energy bill. Your HVAC system will not have to work as hard if there is less warm air leaking out of the windows.

Use a Humidifier

A humidifier helps prevent the air from drying out. It also helps keep your air warm. If you do not have a humidifier, then there are some things that you can do to keep the air moist and warm. You can take a warm bath and leave the water in the tub after you are done.

You can keep yourself and family warm on the cold days by making a few changes. You can replace the windows, use a humidifier and open the curtains and blinds during the day. You can also consume warm foods and beverages. Additionally, you can use the natural sunlight.
