Hemorrhoids are swollen blood vessels, usually found near the lower part of the rectum or anus. Hemorrhoids is a clinical term also referred to as piles, mulvyadh or bavasir. Hemorrhoids are of two types: Internal and External.

Internal piles or hemorrhoids are found inside the rectum and they are painless. They can’t be seen with naked eyes and their presence can be felt during bleeding only. While external piles are found outside the anus and are very painful. A person always feels discomfort with external piles.

Causes of Piles

• Chronic constipation
• Hard Stools
• Low fiber diet, less intake of water and high intake of processed food
• Sitting for long periods of time on the toilet seat (Faulty Toilet Habits)
• Pregnancy
• Lifting heavy weights
• Obesity

Treatment for Piles

Piles or hemorrhoids are of four grades; Grade 1 and initial stages of grade 2 can be treated using medications. Later stages of grade 2 and early stages of grade 3 are treated using LHP (Laser Haemorrhoidoplasty. Later stages of grade 3 and grade 4 are treated through MIPH (Minimally Invasive Procedure for Haemorrhoids).
