Healthy eating is important, but it can be challenging having to think about all those vitamins, minerals, nutrients, antioxidants, and calories you should take in every day. Eating food rich with all these will make you healthier, reduce the risk of heart and liver disease, lower your blood pressure, and boost your metabolism. The only problem is that it’s difficult to combine all the ingredients. Luckily, there are foods rich in all of the above that can do wonders for your overall health, and for this they have been dubbed ‘superfoods’.
Bee pollen
Raw organic honey and bee pollen are incredibly healthy foods, however, while honey is known for its antioxidant and antibacterial traits and commonly used as sweetener, bee pollen is often forgotten. It should not be, though, since it can do a lot for you: it combats fatigue and cravings, calms your stomach, and boosts your immunity. It increases energy and can even help with asthma and allergies. Simply take a few granules in your mouth and let them dissolve slightly.
Coconut oil
Not all oils are bad for you, and coconut oil is being used in many ways: it makes skin and hair beautiful, silky, and smooth, but when it comes to diet, it gets better. It is rich in lactic and dietary fibres, and it can help people who are trying to lose weight. In addition, it is good for your heart and may even help treat infections. Use it for frying, in smoothies, and in your morning cup of hot coffee or tea.
Echinacea
When you’re coming down with a cold or a flu, you feel like you would do anything to get better again. This amazing herb is a natural antibiotic that boosts your immune system apparently overnight, and keeps it up for a long time. It does all this by stimulating the lymph flow along with the blood flow, thus helping our body get rid of toxins naturally. The herb is used for tea, but there are also capsules on the market which can help you during the risky flu season.
Goji Berries
If you think lemons and oranges are rich in vitamin C, try some goji berries. Eastern medicine, China, Mongolia, and Tibet, have been using these orangy-red berries to help with circulation, immunity, and various visual ailments. They are very convenient to add to your diet since they can be used dried whole and in different powders as well, so you can spice up your smoothie with this vitamin bomb. Moreover, they are fat-free, count almost zero calories, and are full of fibers, making them perfect for those who struggle with going the bathroom on a regular basis
Avocado
Just like our bodies need oil, they also need fat in order to function properly. Fat found in avocados is tremendously healthy, and it will not make you fat; on the contrary, it will help with your digestion and weight loss. Avocado actually helps your body absorb other nutrients and water, so if you add it to a spinach and carrot salad, you will use more alpha and beta-carotene than you would without adding avocado to the mix. As if that is not enough, it also lowers your cholesterol.
Broccoli
Green vegetables are considered healthy in general, but broccoli is special – it contains folic acid which is wonderful for skin, phytonutrients that one of the key ingredients in the fight against cancer, and vitamin C that boosts immunity. Eaten boiled in a broth, soup, or a smoothie, it will do you and your immune system good.
Once you set your mind onto something, you should stick to it, and a healthy diet is definitively something that is going to do wonders for your life and health. Fit these super foods into your diet, and you will notice improvements in your blood pressure, metabolism, and even mood.
