Self-confidence makes a world of difference in the quality of your relationships, both those which you attract AND those which you already have in your life. Just think about the people who you know that have great relationships in their life, both in their friendships and in their romance. I bet you a dollar these people are confident. On the other hand, think about the people who you know whose lives are constantly dragged down by bad or “toxic” relationships, I’ll bet you another dollar that these are people who have low self-confidence.

So since self-confidence is so important, let’s look at some ways in which it can be used to create healthier relationships and help you enjoy a better life...

First, Self-Confidence Commands Respect

Your level of self-confidence is what determines how people treat you. It’s human nature for a person to push you to a level that you will tolerate. This doesn’t make people bad, it’s just the way people are. Do you know what this means if you have low self-confidence and therefore tolerate second class behavior from others? It means that you’ll be walked over and manipulated by people...even those who mean good and believe that they have your best interest in mind. If you want to take control and to live your own life, you must learn to stop tolerating second class behavior from others.

This begins with having self-confidence, and that is the key to earning people’s respect. People rarely give you respect, and even those who do are going to do so on their terms. You have to earn it and without self-confidence, you’ll never be able to bring yourself to do this...even if you know HOW to do it.

Second, Self-Confidence is Magnetic

This is when being confident REALLY pays off the big dividends. With self-confidence, you make yourself more appealing to others, and I’m talking about those of BOTH sexes. As this happens, your “social capital” expands and you have more options for attracting high quality relationships into your life. Without having self-confidence, you’ll have to take what’s left over when everyone else around you is done choosing...no fun. How important is it for you to have better relationships in your life? Poor relationships can cause stress, cost you time and money and make you into a jaded person.

On the other hand, healthy relationships have a positive effect on your self-confidence and thus further increase your options for becoming your best self and living your best life. If you doubt that self-confidence can be learned, you’ll be glad to know that it’s really easier than you think, all you need is the right strategy.
