When you start a business online, it should be something that you enjoy. There are three basic categories that you would consider when deciding what your niche is about. You want to be passionate about it and know something about it too because you will need to provide content for your website or blog. For example, many years ago when I first started my own online businesses, I had one which was an organizing website and the other was all about marital relationships. So, you can see how your diverse interests can actually make you money! Imagine writing about your passions and skills and actually earning a living! I can help you start a business online with a few basic steps. Let me give you a better idea how to start a business online, these three categories are:

1. Health: Nutrition, Exercise, Diet, Weight Loss, Beauty to name a few.

2. Lifestyle: Pets, Spirituality, Family Travel, Relationships, etc.

3. Wealth: Make money online, small business, retirement, debt, etc.

So, sit down and brainstorm about your passions, interests, and skill and go for it. Start a business online and start making money so you can work from home and make a great living at the same time.

Your Domain Name Is Important When You Start A Business Online

Now that you have an idea of what you want to do when you start your business online, you need to be SEO savvy. Search Engine Optimization or SEO is a term used for making certain that the search engines like your site and will advertise it for free in those search engines. Obviously, you want it to rank high without paying for it so you need to think about the name of your domain. Consider keywords for your niche when deciding what you want your domain name to be. For example, if you are an experienced aquarist then you might want a blog about Salt Water Fish. If the domain name is not already taken, you could try "saltwaterfish.com". It would not be difficult to write endless articles around keeping salt water fish since there are so many aspects involved with water quality, testing and even breeding. You could even monetize your blog easily with affiliate links for salt water fish products. If you are a savvy entrepreneur you could even put together a video "how to" series on setting up a salt water tank and so on. Why? Because it’s YOUR product and you can sell it! Imagine having YOUR VERY OWN PRODUCTS on you blog? Sweet! Now that you have chosen your catchy domain name, you need to register it with a hosting company. This is a very inexpensive aspect of doing business online. Most of the fees range from $2 to $12 bucks per year! Not bad!

Should You Use A Blog or Website Editor When You Start Your Business Online?

My personal experience is that blogs are not as user friendly as website editors. That’s a shame too because you should use a blog due to the marketability with the search engines. The fact is that the search engines really care about content and blogs are full of articles where a conventional website has more of a commercial tone. Blogs are typically content rich so the search engines will typically update your blog posts much quicker than a conventional website. I use WordPress for my blog and am able to customize various aspects, but honestly, it can be a bugger sometimes when I want to tweek it.

Is It Easy To Start A Business Online?

I’m not going to give you false information here. It will take you time to get your online business set up. From the time that you start a business online to the time that you start raking in the dough, it’s about a year. Some people can do it in as little as six months. What’s the difference? If you worked 10 hour days getting up and running and promoting it you would most certainly benefit financially much quicker than someone who only has a few hours a day to work on their new online business. When you start a business online, you will learn quickly that it is very similar to a traditional business. For example, my computer business which was a retail shop and onsite networking B2B, I would easily spend 10 hour days in the first two years. With an online business the time spent getting it up and running is the hardest part. When you start your business online, the first year is the most time consuming aspect regarding making a your brand and promoting it. The time spent as you become more efficient begins to dwindle down to a four to eight hour day. Personally, I find my online businesses much less stressful too and that alone is the biggest aspect of why I wanted to start a business online. With my retail stores, I had problems with employees and vendors that never seem to end. At least when you toil away with your blog and hit your head against the wall for a few months, you finally start to see things come together and can relax a wee bit as time goes on.

Any business you have is rewarding and not without some amount of pain. When you start a business online, you will benefit far more with the tremendous benefits such as staying home a lot more, spending time with family, doing more fun things during the day as well as enjoying the endless ability for letting your inner creativity out as you create content on your blog. I hope this article inspires you to start a business online today.
