Do you believe in signs and synchronicity – messages from the universe?
Certain events have occurred over the past year that have made me a believer.
I believe in the universe, faith, divinity, and love. I believe that there is a power guiding each of us. I believe that we each see evidence of this power every single day – some we pay attention to, and others we are completely unaware of. The signs that I see and feel on a daily basis are the knock-you-over-your-head kind of signs. I tend to be a skeptic by nature, so I truly need my signs to be powerful and believable enough for my rational mind to sit down for awhile and allow my soul – my higher self – to hop into the driver’s seat. This part of me is used to magical happenings and knows how to handle them.
And while I talk about these signs a lot in my upcoming book, Coming Back to Life, I just had to share today’s here with you.
A dear friend asked me over the weekend if I tithed. This is the practice of giving 10% of what you earn away. As I understand it, the theory behind it is that money is energy, and it is constantly flowing. However, when we live in a scarcity mindset, we tend to grip our money firmly – fearful of losing any of it. The energy stops. The flow stops. And, therefore, the money stops. Tithing is a practice of keeping the flow going. You give, and you then receive. When you give joyously, you are letting the universe know that you have complete faith that this money will come back to you in abundance. You are letting go of it – you are free of the hold that it has on you. And you are then able to change your vibration from that of scarcity to abundant.
She mentioned a book about this concept called, The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity by Edwene Gaines.
I immediately put it on hold at our wonderful library and looked forward to reading it. I thought a lot about this over the weekend. While I understand that our thoughts become our reality – per the law of attraction, I really hadn’t made the connection between my own tight grip on my money being related to abundance.
Anyway – today three signs/synchronistic events occurred in the space of a few minutes that made me take immediate action and get out into the world and tithe.
I received a call from the library that I had a hold available for pick up. (I put a lot of books on hold, so I had no idea that it was this particular one.)
I was on the phone with my mom and just happened to be talking with her about tithing. I was recounting what my friend had said about it, and I couldn’t remember the name of the book. So I went to the library site to find out. That’s when I saw that this was the book waiting to be picked up. Just when I told her the book’s name, an email popped up from Rhonda Byrne (who wrote, The Secret). Guess what she was talking about? Yep – the importance of tithing.
Amazing! But not surprising. I have found that the universe is constantly working its magical ways all around us – and the more we get into the habit of staying open to seeing this magic, the more magical our lives can become.
Well, when I receive this many signs in such a short period of time, I start paying attention and taking action. So Dan and I got in the car, took some money out of the ATM, and began to look for someone to give it to. We ended up wrapping it up inside a note that said, “It’s Your Lucky Day!” and placed it inside a car that had seen better days. We hoped that this money would help the owner in some way. And I love that they have no idea who did it. And I love that we have no idea who they are. It’s completely anonymous. And the positive energy is out there. It’s flowing. And it feels great. I’ll take this feeling any day over a fearful, scarcity mentality. Any day.
Thank you so much to my dear friend for this wonderful suggestion. I am forever blessed that she is a member of my soul family.
If you tithe, I would love to hear what you experience has been with it!
Staying open to signs has been what I have lived my life by over the past year. I have to say that they haven’t steered me wrong yet, and I know they never will. Isn’t faith great?
