Step 2:-If the spill is still wet and visible, then use an upholstery cleaner that is without bleach and doesn't work on all types of fabrics. Spray heavily on the area till some of it seeps in. Once applied, allow the cleaner to stay on the surface for 10-15 minutes.

Then pat the area properly with a clean cloth to soak up the stains and the cleaner.

The trick is to absorb whatever moisture remains. And so one must apply firm pressure over the cloth to wick away any wetness visible deep in the seat cushion.

Once this is accomplished, apply some baking soda on the dried part of the spill, ensuring they are covered completely. Gently rub the area using a clean cloth or with a soft brush to allow the baking soda to get into the fabric. This will help absorb and neutralise the smell particularly, from protein shakes."
