Students participate in ‘Get Ignited’ workshop
Goal setting, planning, self-motivation, effective management of time and flexibility are some of ingredients of success, Founder and Managing Trustee of Ignited India Initiative (3i) Rahul Kapoor has said.
Participating in the ‘Get ignited’ workshop held at Sona college of Technology here on Saturday, he urged the students to assess their strengths and weakness, identify values and set goals.
The goals he said should be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound. Students should also identify a mentor who could guide them achieve their goals.
While outlining the importance of planning and prioritizing resources, Mr. Rahul Kapoor wanted the students to always prepare to-do lists and set deadlines for each and every task.
They should also make sure that they stick to their deadlines.
A planned and focused approach would help students to finish their tasks within the deadline.
Earlier, he inaugurated the Chennai chapter of 3i, a Bangalore-based charitable trust, in the college.
College Chairman C. Vallippa, presiding donated a sum of Rs. 50,000 to the trust. Later talking to media persons, Mr. Rahul Kapoor said the trust would cover over 5 lakh school and college students under the Get Ignited project. The trust conducts training programmes under the project free of cost.
The faculty members were being given training on Goal Setting and Motivation skills.
They in turn would train the students in Salem region, he said.
Secretary A. Dhirajlal, Principal P. Govindarajan, Programme Co-ordinator K. Karunakaran, Sona College of management Director D. Dhanpal, 3i President Srividya, Vice-Presidents Lakshmi Keerthi and Naveen Pothan and Secretary Palani Rajan, Chapter Head M. Sundar Rajan were present.
Over 740 students studying first year engineering courses and 75 faculty members attended the programme.
