There are countless benefits of an Internet business. I believe a critical benefit, often overlooked, is portability. This is often not learned by an Internet business proprietor until after they have been in business for some time. If the business is set up effectively it can be accessed and operated from anywhere there is an Internet connection. The Internet has allowed us to do this in a economic and efficient manner.

With the advent of technology; communications, meetings, presentations and monitoring can be done from anyplace. If you are looking to setup an Internet business keep this in mind because there will be a time when you may be on the road, for either personal or business travel. There is no reason you are not able to just open up your shop from a hotel room or even an Internet cafe.

I will give you a rundown of what I use to make my workplace portable. First, is a cell phone with a national plan. Your potential buyers have to be able to make contact with you anytime. For email, I use Gmail. It has the best spam control and is up and operating 99.99 percent of the time. You should not have to pay out for an email client as there are many free options offered.

You will need a laptop in order to access the Internet. You just have to connect to a wireless connection and you can be open for business. If you travel anyplace in the US or even the world this should not be an issue. Some secured services you may have to pay for but in most cases you should be able to get connected for free of charge. I have at times driven to a motel parking lot, sat in my car and opened up shop. I tied into the wireless of the motel.

If some of you are uneasy about what is on your desktop at home you can also access this with various programs. Windows 7 is real handy for a remote connection. I use GoToMyPc and am able to remotely access my desktop from anywhere. On my mobile computer I can completely operate my desktop computer. You do not have to be left unconnected at anytime.

An additional tool used for educating is Teamviewer. There is a no cost version. With Teamviewer I am able to remotely access (with granted permission by remote user) anyone else’s computer system. This includes transferring files between computers, via the Internet, and be able to take over the mouse of the other computer. Sometimes it is difficult to explain something over the phone and is much less complicated to visually instruct my team members, on their computer, from my laptop. Teamviewer is a excellent tool and I highly recommend it.

If you are interested in connecting to people by phone but want to save the minutes on your cell phone, get Skype. This tool is free and Skype to Skype calls are free. All you have to do is load the software on your computer and the person at the other end does the same. You can talk to each other, hands free, by using your microphone or headset. I must say this is so sweet and functions worldwide. An extraordinary free service. Teamviewer in combination with Skype will sure to increase your productivity within your Internet business.

With the above tools I am fully portable and able to operate my Internet business from anywhere there is an Internet connection. I encourage you to get started on an Internet business, even if it is part time. As you are setting up keep in mind that you do want to be portable. This will not tie you down to your home computer or place of work. Both convenience and versatility are keys but do not get too wrapped up in your endeavours. Be sure you save time to enjoy your life.
