Online Dating - The Art Of First Emails

Today I would like to discuss an example of what I refer to as "context openers" in the online dating world.

The notion of a context opener is very simple. It is the concept of emailing women online about something that is occurring in the world at the time you are sending out the email.

As I sit here typing this article in the middle of Hurricane Sandy hitting the world, I think to myself, what better time to take advantage of these types of online dating openers.

The timing couldn't be more perfect considering everyone whom is online dating within my location range is experiencing the same Hurricane phenomenon. To top it off, studies show that the rates of people who log on to online dating sites are exponentially higher than on days with no rain.

So let's take a look at an example of what a context opener might look like.

Subject: I was thinking that you could help me out...

Message: I've always dreamed of telling my grandchildren that I would one day meet their future grandmother while creepily lurking on an online dating site and trapped in a Hurricane. You can add an emoticon after this statement with the tongue sticking out to show women that you are completely joking.

Then I will follow this portion of the message with something that is completely original, and ask a question that specifically pertains to the woman's profile whom I am reading.

The goal of this type of email is rather simple. We are trying to accomplish a few things.

First off, we are gaining the females attention by creating a subject line that will make women curious to see what we have to say in our email. We always want to strive to make women open our emails with a great subject line. This is extremely important, as many emails never even wind up being read!

The second thing that we want to do is we want to make women laugh. Hopefully this is something that we accomplished by making our joke about the Hurricane. If the women reading our profiles have any type of sense of humor, they will be slightly amused by this.

As an added bonus, talking about something that is in the context of the situation that is occurring in the world around us will likely encourage women to comment back on the situation, thus sparking original conversation that avoids the boring small talk questions that so many women are faced with online.

Finally, the original question we ask that follows the initial comment we make should be enough to gain a response. Try to pick out something interesting from her profile that you feel she would be interested in talking about. Always remember that there are a million other men competing with us online. We have to try our absolute hardest to be ten times more interesting then the other men on these sites.

There you have it gentleman. An easy emailing format that will get women responding to your emails. Try them out the next time you have something occurring in the world that everyone can relate to.
