Obstacles are Gifts
It may sound simplistic but where you are today is exactly where you need to be. Would you take this moment to truly honor this concept? Although our lifetime experiences all differ greatly, we are all faced with challenges that present themselves as they are in fact, necessary for our spiritual growth. Choosing to embrace a new life essentially means changing from the inside out. When you consciously embark on your unique journey, you can be assured that the only place to start is where you are now. It is the very first step. As you think about it, you will come to know that you do have the potential to make each day a new beginning regardless of what may be happening in your life. As you read this article, congratulate yourself for seeking the truth of your highest self.
I hope you may feel a source of comfort in knowing that all of your answers are inside of you. I am not going to tell you what they are; however, I can help to guide you with this process, the “how”. So I invite you to just sit back, breathe deeply and completely relax as you journey into your highest “self” as every cell of your body is always awakening. It speaks the truth to you now, which is the only time you really have. Your gut tells you what you need to know. Our bodies never lie. So the bottom line is, Have you’ve been listening? And Are you ready to listen? Your true essence is the source of all your assets, all that you will ever need. Will you accept this as truth? Please remember, I am not asking that you trust me, that’s not what this article is about. I’m only reminding you to trust yourself particularly during times when others may doubt you. In fact, go ahead and put the ownership of their doubt back where it belongs onto them. After all, it cannot offer you anything beneficial. It is simply an unnecessary distraction and not yours to own.
My main take home message is that you are the one who has your answers. Think of the story about Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz., in that she always had the power to go back home. All she needed was the realization of her own innate power, i.e. the ruby slippers. The task at hand is to help you to use your ruby slippers, to learn how to empower yourself and use your abilities wisely. Before you truly journey the road to personal transformation, you may be moved to wonder about how you will overcome your obstacles. My response to this is to imagine if we all knew that these very obstacles were divinely inspired ….and perfect for each one of us! This would certainly reframe the total perspective on hand. As you reflect on these very obstacles, it is essential to have faith in knowing that your life journey is designed precisely for your authentic soul expression. With all this said, ONLY you are the one who knows what is best for you, and how to take YOUR life journey.
Seldom do we walk the path without bumps, detours or even red lights along the way. In the life-coaching profession we call these obstacles “blocks”. Sometimes they may be resolved through action, while at other times they need to be dealt with through inner process work. Sometimes these two blocks can be confused or masked as one for the other. I hope to clarify this distinction right now.
Inner process issues include all of those horrible fears floating inside your head; for example, fear of failure, fear of success, fear of not surviving, fear of criticism, fear of losing something, fear of change or even fear of growth. On the other hand, action blocks include the need for more information, accessing and increasing skill level, short term and/or long term plans for action or improving finances. Both types of blocks are equally important to overcome. Your task is to acknowledge that they’re there in order to grow through them. The process of change occurs over time, and oftentimes it seems easier to resist the change that you truly want the most since you are required to get out of your comfort zone.
It is important to remember that trying to push through a block is not the most effective way to deal with and overcome it. You may be asking yourself why? The reason is because these so called blocks have had their purpose and have actually served you at some time in the past; for example, maybe the fear of failure was there so you wouldn’t feel so vulnerable and disappointed if you didn’t actually accomplish what you intended. In other words, that fear protected you in some way. This is why it is pivotal to bring a sense of compassion, respect, and understanding to the fear in order to conquer it. Once you are able to see your “fears” in this new light, everything begins to unfold so you’re your heartfelt goals are back within your reach.
In conclusion, with all the aforementioned in consideration, I challenge you to challenge your obstacles by journaling about them, meditating about them and taking a personal inventory to get to the root cause. You have the ability to create change once you can take the responsibility in realizing how these obstacles have previously served you. Only then will you be able to say these “Obstacles are Gifts”. One of the amazing ironies of life!
