Natural Treatment and Remedies for Reducing Symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes
Written by Tori Boechner
Millions of Americans are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes every year. Anyone can be diagnosed with the disease though certain demographics, such as seniors, African Americans, Latino Americans and Asian Americans are more prone and at a greater risk. Those with diabetes are unable to produce enough insulin in their body. Insulin is essential for your body to break down sugar and starches into glucose for energy. When glucose accumulates in the bloodstream instead of being used by the cells, complications can begin to arise. This includes chronic fatigue, blurred vision, frequent urination and increased thirst and hunger.
While being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes can be heartbreaking news, know that it is manageable, and there are millions of people with the disease that go on to lead normal and productive lives. Of course, you will have to take certain precautions. This includes regular doctor visits and following all instructions provided by your physician. This normally entails daily insulin shots, a change in diet and getting in plenty of exercise. In some cases, doctors may also prescribe medication.
While you are always advised to do what your doctor says, others in the health industry believe that what doctors normally advise is only effective for treating the symptoms and fail to address the underlying cause of the disease. Furthermore, prescribing drugs only masks the real problem and can have unwanted side-effects down the road.
Diabetes is actually a condition that arises as a result of the pancreas' inability to regulate insulin levels. Some in the health community believe that if the pancreas can be healed, then it is possible for diabetics to permanently forgo their insulin shots altogether. This means that the disease can be potentially reversed if certain steps are followed.
There are several steps that can be followed for those wondering how to reverse diabetes naturally. While there is no guarantee that these methods are fail proof and will work on everyone, some have tried them with great success. It is important to note that until your condition completely goes away, you should continue with your standard form of treatment and continue to listen to your doctor. There are certain foods that are believed to contain vital nutrients and minerals that can alleviate symptoms. Some of these can be taken through food or in the form of supplements, which are readily available in most vitamin stores.
Some of the vitamins and nutrients believed to be good for diabetics include ginseng, chromium, magnesium, zinc, aloe vera, gymnema and vanadium. These nutrients may be able to reduce blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity.
A natural treatment for diabetes is always desirable as it means not having to swallow dozens of different drugs. However, it is important to follow through with all medical advice provided by your physician while experimenting with some of the alte
ative treatments. Even if some of these natural remedies sound like hocus pocus, they are still worth trying if it has the potential to reduce your symptoms or even reverse the condition altogether.
