So why are they called love handles anyway? I hate them, I certainly don't love them! My sister's friend insists that there is no way for her to get rid of her pudgy sides. She insists that she exercises all the time and watches what she eats. Yeah right. Sorry Betty, but I know better. Unfortunately, you make more excuses than you do efforts to lose weight.
Sounds harsh, doesn't it? Now, I don't mean to be mean. And this is something I've said to her face. But, to be honest, too many people complain about what is known as stubborn fat while they are too stubborn themselves to do something about it. And you don't have to take my word for it. My doctor tells me the same thing.
It's important to maintain both a good diet and exercise if you truly want to keep up your shape, I remember her telling me. Simple enough advice, I'd say. But to be completely fair, we are all made up of different shapes and sizes. Not all of us have the same ability to stay as slim and trim as others do, even if they are legitimately trying.
When I began writing about the wondrous procedure, known as CoolSculpting , last year, some of my friends got the impression that it was the new quick fix to the problem of excess fat. That wouldn't be a fair assessment. CoolSculpting, firstly, is recommended for those who are trying eliminate the extra weight found in love handles and muffin tops among other areas.
It is not, therefore, a treatment for morbid obesity. It is important, no matter what your size, to be dedicated to optimum health. Losing weight requires dedication, even if you are eligible for CoolSculpting treatments. With that said, I'd like to share a few of the misnomers that may be attached to this innovative new treatment.
But first, a refresher course. If you're just joining us (welcome, by the way!), CoolSculpting is a noninvasive fatbusting procedure that eliminates the need for such surgeries as liposuction. Without incisions, anesthesia or cutting of any kind, this treatment fits patients with a device that freezes fat cells so that they are eliminated from the body naturally.
It is SO much safer than what is commonly known as the goto procedure for fat removal. However, CoolSculpting doesn't exactly work miracles. It's a process. Some doctors find that visible results occur within an average of two to three months. For some it's longer, but then again, for others it's quicker. Remember, we are all different. But a quick fix, CoolSculpting is not.
In addition, CoolSculpting doesn't give patients a license to eat. According to Dr. Craig Crippen from DermMedica, if you don't watch what you eat and you gain weight, the remaining fat will get larger and lessen the results. As always, a healthy diet and diligent exercise routine is highly recommended for maximum results.
